Sing Thong Supermarket

4.5(205 reviews)

Sing Thong Supermarket serves as a reliable, everyday shopping destination for both residents and travellers staying on Koh Chang. Conveniently open seven days a week from 8:00am to 6:30pm, it offers consistent access to groceries, household essentials, and supplies that visitors often need during an extended island stay. Its strong local reputation reflects the kind of dependable, no-fuss service that makes it a practical stop rather than just a passing convenience. Shoppers can expect a straightforward supermarket experience with a range of products suited to daily life on the island. Whether stocking up on snacks, beverages, fresh items, or travel essentials, it covers the practical bases that a remote island setting can make surprisingly difficult to meet. The consistent opening hours across all days of the week make planning easy, which is particularly useful for travellers on flexible itineraries. A good thing to know is that Koh Chang's more remote location means that product availability and pricing can differ from mainland supermarkets, so it is worth visiting early in the day when shelves are freshest and best stocked. Those renting bungalows or staying in self-catering accommodation will find this an especially useful resource. The supermarket also maintains an online presence, which may be worth checking ahead of a visit for any updates or additional information.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
