Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market
Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market is a weekend canal market in Bangkok's Taling Chan district, offering a more local and unhurried alternative to the city's better-known tourist markets. Spread across seven zones, it combines a handful of vendors selling goods from wooden boats with a larger selection of land-based stalls, where visitors can browse fresh produce, Thai snacks, cooked food, and souvenirs. The atmosphere leans more neighbourhood than spectacle, which many visitors find refreshing — particularly those who arrive early on weekend mornings before the crowds build. The market is best appreciated as a food and cultural experience rather than a traditional floating market in the classic sense. Most commercial activity takes place on land, and the number of boats on the water is limited. That said, boat tours are available and one zone offers a direct boat ride to Wat Arun, making it a practical starting point for a broader Bangkok waterway excursion. Good to know: Khlong Lat Mayom is open on Saturdays and Sundays only, from 08:00 to 17:00. Arriving early improves the experience and helps avoid peak congestion. Cash is strongly recommended, as many vendors do not accept cards. The market has multiple toilet facilities on site. Updates on vendors and events are posted to the market's official Facebook page.

Visitor Reviews
I honestly really enjoyed the market! It does not have many floating stalls, but considering how close it is to Bangkok, I thought it was amazing!! Loved the local feeling. We arrived early on the weekend and there was so many locals buying their veggies. Tourist groups arrived later close to lunch time. There is also a nice part of the market where we can buy souvenirs. All vendors were very friendly
The clean floating market in Bangkok is easily accessible and offers numerous toilets. I recommend to carry cash for payments. Additionally, you can take a direct boat ride to Wat Arun. I highly recommend visiting this place. Food was fresh and delicious!
The market itself is a typical thai market. A bit local (where they sell ingredients in bulk) and a lot aimed at tourists. Overall a pleasant experience. There are 7 zones. Take the boat tour in zone 1 (there are different tours in different zones), the one at zone 1 cost us 100 baht for 1 hour, took us to a little cafe only reachable by boat, it was quite nice.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
