Compare prices
Situated on Thanon Chaloemphrakiat in Patong, Mad Monkey operates as a hostel, bar, and social hub rolled into one, making it a natural gathering point for solo travellers and backpackers passing through Phuket. The ground floor has a distinct pub feel that draws in visitors from outside the hostel as well, blurring the line between accommodation and nightlife venue in a way that suits the Patong setting well. Guests can choose between dormitory beds and private rooms, with the latter described by recent visitors as genuinely comfortable and hotel-like in quality — a useful option for those who want the social atmosphere without the shared sleeping arrangement. The hostel is consistently praised for its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities, and the staff receive frequent, specific mentions in reviews for being exceptionally friendly and helpful. The communal energy is welcoming rather than overwhelming, and the mix of guests tends to create connections quickly. Good to know: Patong's dry season runs from November through February, which is also when Mad Monkey is at its busiest. Booking in advance is advisable during this period, particularly for private rooms. The hostel sits within easy reach of Patong Beach, local restaurants, and the broader nightlife strip, so the location works well as a base for exploring the area regardless of when you visit.

Visitor Reviews
I came to Phuket on an impromptu trip, and first time I entered Mad Monkey I thought it was a pub/bar 🙃 however I soon realised it was a hostel, and for me as a solo traveller (staying in another location) the bar felt really lively and warm place to interact with a wide variety of folks from across the globe.I made a few lovely friends as well here. I loved the energy here as compared to the chaos on Bangla road, so spent a few evenings drinking here and mingling with others. Now I know where to stay, if I come again to Phuket on a solo trip. Hats off to the bar staff for their pleasing smiles and to the management for the evening events. Very endearing and interesting place to stay, and I must add, absolutely safe and in an excellent location. PS - to the hostel management: thanks for allowing walk in guests at the bar, it was a memorable part of my overall stay in Phuket 🤟🏽
I had an excellent stay at Mad Monkey Phuket. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was energetic, social, and very welcoming. The facilities were clean and well maintained, the beds were comfortable, and the common areas made it easy to meet other travelers. The location is convenient, close to nightlife and key spots around Phuket, yet still organized and secure. What really made the experience stand out was the staff. A special mention to Connor — he was genuinely the best in the hostel. Professional, friendly, and always going the extra mile to make sure everyone felt included and had a great time. His positive energy and attention to guests made a big difference in my stay. If you’re looking for a fun, social, and well-managed place in Phuket, this is definitely one of the best options. I would absolutely stay here again.
I stayed at Mad Monkey Phuket for my last city for my Thailand trip. And this was the perfect way to wind down. I had a private room. It was actually a really nice hotel room. So I got the luxury of a hotel with the social aspect of a party hostel. I got greeted by Mila. She showed me around. The coming days a went to multiple pub crawls and I had the best time. I would really recommend Mad Monkey Phuket.
