Pai In The Sky Hostel
Compare prices
Sitting on Chai Songkhram Road in the heart of Pai, this hostel puts travellers directly in the middle of one of northern Thailand's most beloved backpacker towns. The central position is consistently praised by guests, placing them within easy walking distance of local restaurants, cafes, night markets, and the relaxed street life that defines Pai's distinctive bohemian character. Rooms are straightforward and functional rather than polished, with guests describing the space as basic but generally clean and reasonably spacious. The atmosphere leans homey and social, typical of a small hostel in a town built around slow travel and connection. Owners are noted as welcoming and helpful, which adds a personal touch that larger properties in the area often lack. That said, travellers with comfort-focused expectations should note that some guests have reported issues with heating, noise from the street, and limited in-room amenities such as outlet placement. Good to know: Pai's evenings and early mornings can turn noticeably cold, particularly between November and February when overnight temperatures drop significantly in this mountainous northern region. Given that some guests have experienced heating limitations with the air conditioning units, packing warm layers is genuinely practical advice rather than a precaution. The hostel operates daily from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, so late-night arrivals should plan accordingly. Booking ahead during peak season is advisable, as Pai draws large crowds in the cooler months and central accommodation fills quickly.

Visitor Reviews
Back here again for the third time! The location is just perfect. Everything is quite basic, but it feels so homey. This space next to the hostel used to be an empty space for parking before turning into a hotel, and now it’s run by new owners, which means there’s NO parking space. The swimming pool belongs to the hotel next door, but guests here are still allowed to use it. The owners, an elderly couple, speak little English but are incredibly friendly, especially the lady.
It was absolutely a lovely stay. Room is spacious and super clean, AC works great, location is perfect and the owners are so sweet and helpful. I would definitely recommend to stay here.
I stayed one night in a twin bedroom and thought the room & bathroom were very basic than what I expected. I didn't like that the only plug was far away from the bed and thought the bed was uncomfortable. I could also hear everything going on around me outside and in other rooms. Go for the location and service which is outstanding but if you're planning on getting a comfortable sleep, I wouldn't choose this place.
