Bura Resort Chiang Rai
Compare prices
Set in Tambon Ban Du on the outskirts of Chiang Rai city, this resort hotel offers a distinctive retreat built around a landscape of water surrounding its bungalows and restaurant. The design-forward accommodation draws travellers who appreciate character over convenience, with spacious, well-maintained bungalows and a setting that feels removed from the urban centre while remaining accessible to Chiang Rai's key attractions. Guests consistently highlight the warmth of the owners, Nui and her husband, who take a hands-on approach to hospitality — assisting with transportation arrangements and going beyond standard service expectations. The bungalows are noted for their generous size, cleanliness, and thoughtful design, while the on-site restaurant earns strong praise for its food quality. The resort operates seven days a week with reception hours from 08:00 to 21:00, so late-night arrivals should plan accordingly and communicate arrival times in advance. A practical note for prospective guests: the resort sits outside the city centre, which contributes to its peaceful atmosphere but means a car, motorbike, or arranged transfer is advisable for exploring Chiang Rai's landmarks such as Wat Rong Khun. At least one reviewer noted minor maintenance issues, so it is worth confirming current room and facilities conditions when booking directly. The cooler months from November to February offer the most comfortable conditions for enjoying the outdoor waterway setting, with mild temperatures and clearer air quality across the region.

Visitor Reviews
This resort is hands-down the best place we’ve stayed in in Thailand since we’ve been traveling throughout the country for nearly 3 weeks. And, we travel a lot- around the world. It may be out of city central but the owners offer so many trips to downtown and back for a very small fee or free, that you will be able to do what you want. If you’re a nature and jungle love, appreciate a completely different experience, and want to be close to Chiang Rai city but not around constant city life, this is the place for you. It is truly incredible, memorable and special . The rooms are amazingly fun, private, spacious and almost like a movie set or fairytale. At night you hear the frogs croaking and during the day you see the butterflies and natural beauty all around. The breakfast is top-notch with fresh fruit, eggs, any style, not to mention local and homemade goodies. Jazz, Noi , Hanna, Krit and daily housekeeping staff, will make your visit memorable and special. OK. We are tough critics and have high standards- you will not be sorry staying here. Oh, and the Wi-Fi works great.
I booked for 2 nights but loved it so much that I stayed 4! The owners, Nui and her husband, are incredibly warm and helpful they assisted with transportation and even gave me a free airport drop at checkout. The resort itself is beautiful, with creative design, spacious rooms, a well-equipped bathroom, and a serene stream running through the property. Truly a peaceful and unique place with outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended!
“Magical” This landscape of water all around the bungalows and restaurant is just amazing. Roomy bungalows with an unique design which I enjoyed very much. Faboulos food in the restaurant. Hannah, the manager, fluent in English, very helpful, is just perfect in her job. Beds on hard side, like most thai beds, but still comfy. Yes, the place need some attention, but overall just great.
