The 8 Best Beaches in Khao Lak, Ranked

This is mostly long, palm-backed mainland sand strung along the Khao Lak coast, quiet stretches like Bang Sak, Khuk Khak and Pak Weep doing the heavy lifting, with resort-heavy Bang Niang and Nang Thong at the busier end. The odd one out is Donald Duck Bay on Koh Similan, granite boulders and a boat trip away, and worth the effort. Ranked on Google ratings, with review volume breaking ties.

Getting there

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is about 70–85 km south, 80–100 minutes by car (฿1,800 at the airport taxi counter) or about 2 hours by shared van (฿550–750 a seat). Buses from Bangkok's Southern Terminal reach Khao Lak town in 10–12 hours, and most stop on request along the resort strip.

•Songthaews along the main coastal road (Phetkasem highway)
•Motorbike rental (฿250–300/day; the resort areas string along one road)
•Hotel shuttles and taxis — no Grab coverage to speak of
•Tour transfers to Khao Sok and the Similan piers are hotel-pickup based
