boat seafood 船海鲜
Tucked along Thanon Ratsada in the Rasada area of central Phuket, this Chinese-style seafood restaurant has built a loyal following among locals and visitors alike for its straightforward approach: diners select from fresh, live seafood and have it prepared on the spot. The cook is known to bring fresh catches tableside for approval before cooking, a detail that regulars appreciate as a mark of transparency and quality. Signature dishes include crab curry and stir-fried crab with lime, and the menu extends to prawns and other daily seafood selections prepared in classic Thai-Chinese style. The setting is casual and unfussy, sitting among a small cluster of similar Chinese-style seafood spots on the old street, though reviewers consistently single this one out for its quality and service. It draws a mixed crowd of shoppers, tourists, and locals, making it a practical choice for a sit-down meal while exploring Old Phuket Town. Pricing sits above street-stall level, which visitors generally consider reasonable given the location and the quality of ingredients on offer. The restaurant opens daily at 10:00 AM, with slightly extended closing hours of 21:30 on Mondays and Sundays, giving flexibility for both lunch and dinner. As payment details are not confirmed, carrying cash is a sensible precaution. Arriving outside peak meal times may mean a quieter experience, though the central location means foot traffic is fairly consistent throughout the day.

Visitor Reviews
There are 2-3 Chinese-style seafood spots on the old street, and this one stands out. It’s pricier than food stalls, but super convenient for treating friends or grabbing a bite while shopping. You can also get rice with garlic-sautéed greens here. The surprise was their clam & tofu soup (I skipped the spicy clams). Its broth isn’t ordinary—it tastes like it’s simmered with fish, rich and creamy. Total win! The two staff (a girl and a guy) are attentive: they replace bone plates at the right time without disturbing you. Great service! Our street-side outer table was a bit noisy. I’ll pick another spot next time.
We got the crab curry and stir fried crab with lime and both were delicious! The cook brought the fresh crab tableside for our okay before preparing, so you know it’s fresh. Mango smoothies and mango sticky rice were both yummy as well :)
The seafood is fresh and tastes very nice, a bit pricey but makes sense as it’s located at the most happening Old Phuket Town area. Service was good, place is comfortable. Would recommend for ppl who look for seafood in this area!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
