TAPAS Cafe & Restaurant - Phuket Old Town
Tucked into the characterful streets of Phuket Old Town, this Spanish-influenced cafe and restaurant brings tapas-style dining to one of the island's most atmospheric neighbourhoods. The menu centres on shared small plates and European-inspired dishes, with fish croquettes and garlic bread drawing consistent praise from diners. It functions equally well as a breakfast spot, a brunch stop, and a sit-down dinner venue, giving it genuine flexibility across the day. The space carries a relaxed, welcoming tone that suits both casual drop-ins and longer meals. Staff are noted for their attentiveness and willingness to ask about dietary preferences and allergies, which adds a thoughtful layer to the experience. Portions are substantial relative to the price, and the drinks menu complements the food well. The overall atmosphere lends itself to a leisurely dinner or a proper meal between exploring the Sino-Portuguese architecture the neighbourhood is known for. Practically speaking, TAPAS is open every day of the week from 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM, making it a reliable option regardless of when plans shift. The early opening suits travellers wanting a cooked breakfast before heading out for the day. Given its popularity, arriving outside peak dinner hours or checking the website ahead of time to plan accordingly is worth considering.

Visitor Reviews
Food was soooo amazing and delicious. Drinks were refreshing. Service staff was super sweet and even asked for dietary preferences / allergies. I felt very welcomed in this restaurant. Portions are big and very appetizing. I particularly enjoyed the mushroom soup with a hint of truffle, even though I am usually not a fan of it. The ambiance made my lunch all the more enjoyable. It is airconditioned and ventilated well on this hot day. If I come back, I will definitely eat here again. 💯
Enjoyed our meal here. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food was very good. Portions were reasonable, but not overly generous as some reviews said; we shared two appetizers, two entrees and split a dessert and were definitely full, but didn’t have leftovers either! Of note, while sounding a little different, if not even a little strange, the duck breast with deep fried burrata was excellent and we enjoyed everything we ate.
We decided to go for a walk from our hotel 5 minutes away and decided to have breakfast at this cute little cafe/restaurant. They had a breaky burger that looked delicious we were able to communicate without bacon. This breaky burger was delicious! I didn’t get a change to take a photo as I was extremely hungry and needed to satisfy my stomach. The ice creams as nice. The chai tea ice cream is yummy!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
