Watergate Night Market
Situated in the Makkasan district of central Bangkok, this market occupies the area known as Pratunam — Thai for "Watergate" — and draws a notably diverse crowd. Rather than the stereotypical Thai street market experience, it leans heavily toward South Asian culture, with Indian food stalls and vendors forming a central part of the offering. Visitors looking for authentic Thai market vibes may find this surprising, so it helps to arrive with calibrated expectations. The market has a partially air-conditioned indoor section, which makes it a practical refuge during Bangkok's frequent rain showers or intense heat. Food is a highlight for those who enjoy Indian cuisine, with several visitors praising the flavour and value. Shopping is available across clothing, accessories, and general merchandise, though prices are reportedly not as competitive as other Bangkok markets — pushing back on vendor pricing may yield modest discounts. Good to know: The market is open every day from 11:00 AM to midnight, offering flexibility for both daytime and evening visits. Bring cash, as many stalls do not accept cards. The market is described as relatively small with a limited number of stalls, so it is best treated as one stop on a broader Pratunam area itinerary rather than a standalone half-day destination.

Best service ever...food is too tasty. Pls visit here for Indian food
It's too worth for money
Water Gate Night Market. Water Gate is English for Pratunam. This is an air-conditioned, indoor night market that's good when it's raining. Outside there's a vendor selling the creme de la creme of mango sticky rice that puts those at Yaowarat to shame. The rice is soft and sticky with a sick, mango taste. It's more expensive, but when you shoot it, you will know where that extra money went. In the night market there's an Indian restaurant called India Gate that serves good garlic naan and thick, tandoori chicken curry. It is right next to the Palladium IT Mall where further down the road is the TALAD Neon Night Market.

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
