Indy Market Dao Khanong
Indy Market Dao Khanong is a popular local night market tucked away in Bangkok's Chom Thong neighbourhood, drawing a predominantly young Thai crowd to its mix of food stalls, clothing vendors, craft sellers, hairdressers, and bars. Operating every night of the week from 5pm until midnight, it offers a genuine slice of everyday Bangkok nightlife that remains largely untouched by mass tourism — a quality that many visitors find particularly appealing. The market is modest in scale but well-rounded, with around 20 to 30 food stalls serving affordable Thai dishes alongside a handful of bars and a generous seating area where visitors can settle in and eat. Western options such as pizza, kebabs, and fries are available for those who want them, though the Thai food is the clear draw. Fashion and clothing stalls round out the shopping side of things, making it easy to spend a few hours browsing and grazing. Prices here are firmly local, which makes it an accessible option for budget-conscious travellers. Because the market runs every night from 5pm, there is no need to plan around a specific market day. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, best suited to those who enjoy mingling with locals rather than seeking a curated tourist experience. Visitors can bring food from the stalls into the bar areas, making it a casual and flexible place to spend an evening.

Visitor Reviews
Nice Little market. There are about 20/30 different food stalls and about 5/6 different bars. The seating area is quite large and we never struggled to find a seat. There are about 20/30 more fashion and clothes adjacent stalls also in the market so it could be a good place for people who like perusing cheap goods. Overall the market is very nice and has plenty of seating.
II really liked it here, its a very local market and doesn’t bow down to tourism at all, mainly because there isn’t any! There is a little food court and you can buy the food and take it into one of the small bars that have live music, order beer and just help yourself to the food stalls, very nice! Not smart or sophisticated but very local, very thai and very nice!!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
