Banthat thong road NIGHT MARKET
Tucked along Banthat Thong Road in the Wang Mai neighbourhood of Pathum Wan, this night market has built a strong following among Bangkok locals and younger visitors for its combination of street food variety, genuine fashion finds, and lively atmosphere. Unlike many Bangkok markets catering to tourist tastes, the offering here leans toward locally driven fashion and clothing that appeals to a style-conscious crowd, alongside game stalls and entertainment that give the street a distinctly energetic character. The food scene is a particular draw. Vendors line the street with everything from Thai classics to more contemporary bites, with reviewers consistently noting the variety, affordability, and — notably — the cleanliness of the surroundings compared to other Bangkok night markets. The atmosphere is immersive: grills smoke, crowds fill the footpaths, and the kind of incremental eating that starts with one snack and spirals pleasantly out of control is very much part of the experience. Good to know: As a night market, the full atmosphere only comes to life after dark, so plan accordingly and arrive in the evening when vendors and crowds are at their peak. Bring cash, as street vendors typically do not accept cards. Comfortable footwear is recommended, as the street can get busy and warm. The Pathum Wan location offers reasonable access to central Bangkok's public transport links, making it a practical stop for those staying in or around the city centre.

Visitor Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of the best night markets in Bangkok – and in my opinion better and cheaper than Chinatown. You’ll find a huge variety of street food, from Thai classics to modern bites, all at very fair local prices. The atmosphere is lively but not overcrowded, which makes it much more enjoyable compared to the sometimes touristy chaos in Chinatown. Perfect spot to taste authentic Bangkok street food without breaking the bank. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors looking for real flavors and value.
Came here at night and somehow ended up eating way more than planned. The whole street is buzzing with people, smoke from grills, and food everywhere you look. You walk in saying just one snack and suddenly it is your third stop. Crowded, noisy, and a little chaotic, but that is exactly what makes it fun. Perfect place if you are hungry and have zero self control.
Banthat Thong has become home to my favourite night market. There are so many food choices, and the street is clean and hygienic compared to other night markets that can be wet, dirty, or smelly. Endless restaurants to try with great food options — I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to Bangkok.
Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
