Royal Nakara Ao Nang
Royal Nakara Ao Nang is a relaxed, independently run hotel in the heart of Ao Nang, offering generously sized rooms with a charming vintage character and large balconies that make the most of the surrounding setting. The outdoor pool is a quiet retreat, and the welcoming reception staff are consistently noted for their helpfulness and warmth. The property sits within walking distance of the Night Market and Landmark Market, giving guests convenient access to local food, shopping, and evening atmosphere. The hotel is situated approximately 1.5 kilometres from the beach, making it a comfortable base for exploring the area rather than a beachfront stay. Nearby restaurants provide plenty of dining options, and the property offers scooter rental for guests who want to get around independently. Rooms are spacious by local standards, and the overall value for the price point draws repeat praise from visitors. Travellers should note that breakfast is not currently included, and some dining options in the immediate area open later in the morning, so it is worth planning accordingly. The property has an older feel in parts, which suits guests who appreciate character over polish. Those seeking a lively, resort-style experience may want to look closer to the beachfront, but for travellers who prioritise space, value, and a genuine local atmosphere, Royal Nakara Ao Nang is a practical and well-regarded choice.

Visitor Reviews
Very good owner and her friend who were at the reception. The property is bit old, however the hotel had a quiet pool, and location is 1.5 km from the beach. They have scooty rental services too.
Very nice spacious rooms and good size pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is good. Night market and landmark market is at walkable distance.
Good Hotel, rooms are great a little bit away from the beach. But has restaurants very close.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
