KANTA PHUKET
Tucked along Phangnga Road in central Phuket Town, this café-restaurant blends casual dining with a notably beautiful interior, drawing visitors who stumble upon it as much as those who seek it out. The menu spans traditional southern Thai dishes, steamed buns, dumplings, and quality coffee, making it a versatile stop for a light snack, a full meal, or an afternoon drink. Standout items mentioned by visitors include the steamed buns — particularly the taro variety — and what several guests describe as some of the best coffee they have encountered in Thailand. The atmosphere leans toward a relaxed café setting rather than a purely functional dining room, with attentive staff who are noted for helping guests navigate the menu and checking in throughout the meal. Portions tend toward the smaller side, which suits those wanting to sample multiple dishes rather than committing to one large plate. The space itself is considered a draw in its own right, with a well-considered aesthetic that adds to the overall experience. Good to know: Kanta Phuket opens daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM with no closing days, offering flexibility across lunch, afternoon, and dinner sittings. As with most well-rated spots in Phuket Town, arriving slightly outside peak mealtimes may mean a more relaxed experience. Dress is casual, and the central Phangnga Road location is walkable from many of Phuket Town's main sights and accommodation options. Note that at least one visitor found a gap between menu photography and the dishes served, so setting expectations accordingly is worthwhile.

Visitor Reviews
I stumbled upon this absolute hidden gem today, and I am so glad I did! The cafe itself is stunningly beautiful. The staff here are incredible, they are so friendly and genuinely helpful. Their knowledge of coffee is impressive, and they guided me toward a brew that was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. A delightful surprise was the sticky rice dessert that came with the coffee, it was the perfect pairing and thoughtful touch. Very reasonly priced and 200 bht / £5 well worth it. They also specialize in gluten-free and lactose-free options. If you're looking for a beautiful spot with expert service and amazing treats, this is it! Highly recommended.
I love this place. One of the best coffees I have had in Thailand, maybe ever! Food was nice, slightly small portions but I was glad as I wanted to try a few things. The vibes are on point, the place is beautiful and the staff are super sweet, beautifully dressed and super welcoming. Also got a free dessert for leaving a review. Will be back 💜✨️
The food was very good. The dumplings were nice but the dough was a bit plane for me, even though the inside was amazing! The buns are just amazing and must try! The taro bun is a bit sweet and the beef taro is perfect. The staff are so nice and welcoming and theis english is very good. We had a great time and will come for dessert next time :)

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
