Gecko Cabane Restaurant
Tucked away on Soi Ruam Jit in Pak Nam, central Krabi, Gecko Cabane is a Franco-Thai fusion restaurant with a genuinely distinctive identity. Run by a French owner with evident culinary training, the kitchen moves confidently between two culinary traditions — Thai classics such as Panang duck curry sit alongside French bistro staples like bread, cheese, and sharing plates. The result is a menu that feels considered rather than gimmicky, with visitors consistently noting the technical quality of the cooking. The interior draws comparisons to a French bistro with Thai influences, setting it apart from the casual beachside dining that dominates much of the region. The owner is known to engage personally with guests, discussing the menu and offering recommendations, which adds a personal dimension to the experience. It suits couples and small groups looking for a more deliberate, sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, and rewards those who seek it out rather than stumble upon it. Gecko Cabane is open seven days a week from 11:00 to 23:00, giving flexibility for both lunch and dinner visits. Pricing sits at the mid-range level, representing solid value given the cooking quality and the distinctiveness of the concept. The restaurant is walkable from central Krabi town and reachable by tuk-tuk. During high season, roughly November through March, booking ahead for dinner is advisable given the restaurant's size and reputation among visitors to the area.

Visitor Reviews
We came across this on our last night in Krabi. We enjoyed the environment as a “proper” restaurant. Reminded me of a French bistro with Thai influences. The food was delicious and we enjoyed it all. The tiger prawns were perfectly cooked sand it was all v satisfactory. The leather sofa and gravy wood tables are v comfortable. It’s v warm as fans only. The homemade ice creams were excellent. The French host/owner v welcoming and helpful.
Had a fantastic meal, service, ambience and food excellent. We found this restaurant by chance, just exploring the area and what a find! We had bread, cheese and tomatoes to share as a starter, my husband had the massaman lamb curry, I had the seabass with basil sauce and a green salad, and apple tarttan with ice cream for dessert. All excellent, I highly recommend this restaurant
We came here twice during our time in Krabi. The food is really good and the French owner is really attentive, taking time to talk to you about the food and make recommendations. The interior is really beautiful. The only downside is no AirCon, just fans so it does get a bit warm.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
