Chom Chada Cocktail Bar & Bistro
Sitting on Koh Samui's busy Chaweng Beach Road, this cocktail bar and bistro draws a loyal crowd with a menu that spans both Thai and European cuisine alongside a serious cocktail offering. Dishes like fried soft shell crab, wagyu beef, and Pad Kra Pao have earned consistent praise from visitors, with reviewers noting that the Thai dishes in particular taste authentic and well-seasoned rather than adapted for tourist palates. The interior is described as cozy and stylishly designed, with soft lighting that creates a relaxed atmosphere despite the lively street outside. The venue operates as a genuine all-day destination, opening at 8am for breakfast and running through to 1am seven days a week. This makes it equally useful as a morning coffee stop, a sit-down lunch away from the beach crowds, or an evening cocktail bar after dinner elsewhere. Staff receive frequent mention in reviews for being friendly and professional, adding to the overall experience. Good to know: The Chaweng Beach Road location means foot traffic outside can be loud and busy, particularly in peak season, but visitors note that the interior manages to feel calm regardless. Those wanting a quieter table may find mid-afternoon a more relaxed window. The menu covers enough ground that it works well for groups with mixed preferences between Thai food and Western dishes.

Visitor Reviews
Very good quality place for lunch or dinner. We chose this restaurant for dinner when we were a bit tired of traditional Thai food and wanted something different — and it turned out to be a great choice. (The place offers Thai food as well, but we chose it for its long good quality selection of European cuisine) This place is not the best value for money by Thai standards, as the dishes are rather expensive, but the quality definitely makes up for it once you taste the food. Food: I ordered the filet mignon in mushroom sauce and it was absolutely spectacular — honestly one of the best steaks I’ve had in Thailand, cooked perfectly. My wife chose the grilled squid and enjoyed it very much. Our daughter had the salmon and our son ordered the ribeye steak — both kids were very happy with their meals. We also had a couple of drinks, which were very good. There was a small misunderstanding regarding the happy hour promotion — we thought it was buy one get one free, while in fact it was buy two and get one free. Just a minor communication issue. The staff were kind and friendly, although English communication could be a bit better. The waiting time was slightly longer, but understandable considering we ordered high-quality meat dishes. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience. Just keep in mind that prices are higher than typical Thai restaurants, but in my opinion the food quality makes it worth it.
Chom Chada Bar is a great spot for a laid-back evening with excellent cocktails, friendly staff, and a beautifully designed interior. The ambience is cozy and stylish, perfectly complemented by soft background music that makes it easy to relax and have a good chat. The service is attentive and welcoming, and the cocktails are very well mixed, with fresh ingredients and great balance. Whether you’re stopping by for a pre-dinner drink or ending your night here, it’s a place where you’ll feel instantly comfortable. A wonderful bar with great vibes, great drinks, and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!
The food is delicious and has an authentic Thai taste, nothing feels off or watered down. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, a perfect place to unwind. Even though it’s quite busy outside with traffic, the inside of the restaurant is calm and peaceful. The staff are friendly, always smiling, and provide excellent service. Truly a pleasant dining experience!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
