Phetchbuncha Boxing Stadium in Chaweng is Koh Samui's main Muay Thai venue, and the ring where the island's training camps blood their fighters — which gives its fight nights a flavour Bangkok's big arenas can't match. On a typical card, young Thai prospects and stadium veterans share the bill with foreigners from Samui's gyms taking their first or fifth fight, and sections of the crowd are their training partners, which turns the atmosphere tribal in the best way. The rituals are all present: the wai khru danced before each bout, live traditional music driving the rounds, and increasingly animated betting in the later fights. An evening runs around eight bouts over three hours or so. Seating is simple — general admission and ringside — and at this scale ringside genuinely means an arm's length from the apron. It is a tourist-friendly show, but the fights are full-rules and real. Good to know: fight nights run weekly, more often in high season, with the schedule promoted on banners around Chaweng and Lamai — confirm the night locally, and buy at the stadium box office rather than from street touts, who mark tickets up. Main events start late; arriving an hour after doors still catches most of the card. The stadium is central Chaweng, an easy Grab or songthaew from anywhere on the east coast.
