Why go, and how to do it well
Every Thai city of any size has the mall everyone defaults to, and in Korat this is it. Part of The Mall Group, so you know roughly what you're getting before you walk in, with multiple floors of fashion, electronics, homewares and lifestyle shops, a supermarket for anything you forgot to pack, food and drink spread through the building, and entertainment on top of it.
I wouldn't send anyone to Korat for the shopping. But if you're breaking a drive along Mittraphap Road, killing an afternoon before a bus, or you've hit the point in an Isaan trip where 36 degrees stops being charming, it does the job well. The supermarket is genuinely useful for stocking up. The food floor is the easiest sit-down meal in this part of the city. And families pile in at weekends, which makes it a decent place to watch ordinary Korat life go by rather than tourist Thailand.
