SOOKSIAM
Housed within the vast ICONSIAM shopping complex on the Chao Phraya riverside, Sooksiam is an indoor market and cultural showcase organised around Thailand's distinct regions. Each section presents its own local cuisines, handicrafts, and traditional products, creating a space that functions as both a shopping destination and a curated window into provincial Thai culture. The combination of air-conditioned comfort and genuine regional variety makes it a standout feature of one of Bangkok's most prominent riverside developments. Food is the primary draw for most visitors. Dishes from across Thailand's regions are available under one roof, offering a practical and comfortable alternative to outdoor street food without sacrificing authenticity. Prices run higher than a typical market, but the range and quality of regional products — from prepared food to handmade crafts — are consistently noted as the real appeal. An indoor water fountain light show adds an atmospheric bonus, particularly for those visiting in the evening. Getting there is straightforward: ICONSIAM operates a free shuttle boat from Saphan Taksin BTS station, making Sooksiam easily accessible without a taxi or tuk-tuk. Opening hours follow the wider ICONSIAM mall schedule, so checking current times before visiting is worthwhile. Weekday afternoons tend to attract smaller crowds than weekends, when the space becomes noticeably busier.

Visitor Reviews
Sook Siam in Bangkok was truly one of the most vibrant and memorable experiences of our trip. The entire place beautifully brings together Thai culture, street food, shopping, and traditional vibes under one roof — it almost feels like walking through a floating market inside a mall. We tried quite a few desserts and everything was absolutely delicious. The pancakes and tea cakes were soft, fresh, and perfectly sweet. The highlight for me was the mango sticky rice — hands down one of the best I’ve ever had… perfectly ripe mango paired with warm, creamy sticky rice — simply heavenly! The egg banana pancake was another treat — crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful inside. We also loved the rice puffs — super delicious and perfectly crunchy, a great snack to munch on while exploring. We also grabbed a variety of smoothies, which were super refreshing after all the exploring and shopping. And speaking of shopping — Sook Siam is a paradise for souvenir lovers! We ended up buying lots of unique souvenirs, local snacks, handicrafts, and gifts to take back home. There’s so much variety that you’re spoiled for choice. Overall, Sook Siam is a must-visit if you want to experience authentic Thai food, culture, and shopping all in one place. Great food, lively atmosphere, and beautiful local finds — highly recommended! Note- it's always full of people so it's kind of difficult to find a seat to enjoy food. But luckily we managed. Keep cash with you for shopping. Minimum 4-5 hrs is a must to explore the whole space.
SookSiam at ICONSIAM is truly a unique and memorable place to visit in Bangkok. It’s a massive and beautifully designed shopping complex that perfectly blends premium brands with authentic Thai culture and street food. One of the best parts of the experience is arriving here — especially by boat through the river. The ride itself feels special and adds to the charm of the visit. Entering the mall from the river side gives a grand and iconic first impression. Inside, you’ll find an amazing variety of Thai street food, local snacks, desserts, and regional specialties all under one roof. It feels like walking through different parts of Thailand in one place. After enjoying the food, there are plenty of premium and international brands for shopping, making it a perfect mix of culture and luxury. Overall, SookSiam is a fantastic place to eat, explore, shop, and spend quality time. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Bangkok — don’t miss the river entry experience!
A great way to enjoy authentic Thai street food comfortably, plus a free water fountain light show. We visited Icon Siam for shopping and the light show, and were pleasantly surprised to find an indoor, air-conditioned street food market inside the complex. The food was excellent, especially the Pad Thai and the Mango Sticky Rice. The prawn and squid skewers were perfectly cooked, though the sauce was a bit too sweet for my taste. After dinner, we stepped outside to watch the music-synchronized fountain light show. Overall, a solid 5-star experience.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
