Patpong Night Market
Patpong Night Market occupies a narrow lane running between Silom Road and Surawong Road in the Bang Rak district, sitting at the heart of one of Bangkok's oldest and most storied entertainment districts. Open every night from 6pm until 1am, the market draws a steady crowd with rows of stalls selling the usual Bangkok night market staples — souvenirs, clothing, accessories, and knock-off goods — all set against a backdrop of neon-lit bars and the hum of the surrounding street life. While the shopping itself is fairly compact and unremarkable by Bangkok's market standards, the street food scene is a genuine highlight. Unlike many tourist-oriented food areas, there are no aggressive touts steering visitors into restaurants — instead, a relaxed, open-air setup lets visitors choose a table freely and order from nearby stalls at their own pace. Prices are reasonable, and the variety is solid. Bargaining is standard practice at the stalls, so visitors should expect negotiation rather than fixed prices. The market is entirely an evening affair — there is little reason to visit during the day. It is worth noting that Patpong sits within Bangkok's red-light district, which shapes the surrounding atmosphere and may not suit all travellers. The nearest BTS Skytrain station is Sala Daeng, making it straightforward to reach from most central Bangkok locations.

Visitor Reviews
Not a whole lot going on during the day really not worth visiting. Evening is when the fun begins. Lots of good street food available and at a good price. I bought a fake Rolex watch for fun...1200 thai baht. I think that works out about $40. Food is really reasonably priced. And if you're looking for the Shady side of things that's there as well. Just a lot of fun to go to and explore.
The market itselve is somehow limitiert, not very big. But the street food part is one of the BEST! No separat restaurants where market criers force you to sit down. Just choose you table and collect dishes and drinks from different street shops where it looks best for you. Small pictures with prices show the dishes, if you want to have something different, no problem. Just enjoy!
Patpong Night Market is one of Bangkok’s most popular and energetic street markets, known for its lively atmosphere, bright neon lights, and endless shopping options. Located in the Silom area, this market offers a mix of local culture, entertainment, and a bustling nightlife vibe that attracts tourists from all over the world. As soon as you enter, you’ll find rows of stalls selling everything from clothes, handbags, shoes, souvenirs, and accessories to electronics and unique handmade items. The variety is huge, and with good bargaining skills, you can get some really great deals. The market is always buzzing with energy, and the surrounding streets are filled with restaurants, bars, and live-music clubs, making it a complete evening destination. The vendors are friendly, though bargaining is almost expected, so don’t hesitate to negotiate. The place is a bit crowded, but that is part of its charm. While Patpong is famous for its nightlife, the market section itself feels safe and tourist-friendly, especially if you stay on the main street. It’s a great place to experience Bangkok’s local culture, buy affordable items, and enjoy the vibrant environment. Overall, Patpong Night Market is an exciting and memorable spot for evening shopping and entertainment.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
