Phra Khanong BTS Station

4.2(141 reviews)

Phra Khanong BTS Station sits on the Sukhumvit line, connecting the Phra Khanong and Khlong Toei districts to the wider Bangkok elevated rail network. The station serves as a practical gateway for those living in or passing through this residential and commercial stretch of eastern Bangkok, with links running toward both the city centre and outer suburbs along the Sukhumvit corridor. The station is consistently reported as clean and well-maintained, with staff noted by regular users as approachable and willing to assist. It functions as a standard BTS elevated rail stop, with ticketing machines, customer service points, and multiple exits serving the streets below. Good to know: travellers unfamiliar with the BTS ticketing system should be aware that single-journey tickets must currently be purchased at machines using cash or a Rabbit Card, as tap-to-pay with foreign bank cards is not universally supported across the network. Buying a stored-value Rabbit Card at any major BTS station is the most efficient option for those making multiple journeys. The station can experience crowding during peak commute hours, typically weekday mornings between 7:30 and 9:00 and evenings between 17:00 and 19:30. Cyclists and those travelling with large items such as bicycles should check current BTS policies before travelling, as access restrictions may apply.

Visitor Reviews

the staffs at the station are always nice and super happy to help. Especially the security on 23/10 evening (~7.45pm), near Exit 3 & 4, he is very helpful with our questions and even salute us twice! We're flattered. he looks so professional!

In my personal opinion, I think this is a very good station and strategically located. The Sky Trains overall are excellent. My only hope is the Thai government expands it ASAP as it brings great health to the city.

I've lived near this BTS for the past 6 months. An exceptional station, always clean, friendly BTS employees, many services.

Tips for Visiting Transportation

Take the Sleeper Train at Least Once

The Bangkok-to-Chiang Mai overnight train in a second-class sleeper berth is a bucket-list experience. Book at least a week ahead via 12Go.asia or at Hua Lamphong station. Upper berths are cheaper and have more headroom; lower berths have a window.

Use Grab Everywhere

Grab is the Uber of Southeast Asia and works across Thailand for cars, motorbike taxis, and even tuk-tuks in some cities. It eliminates haggling and provides fare estimates upfront. Load a Thai SIM or use eSIM to stay connected.

Rent Scooters Carefully

Always photograph the scooter's existing damage before riding off, and keep your passport — give a photocopy instead (some shops insist on the original; avoid these). Wear a helmet; police fine 500 THB for no helmet and accidents without one void insurance.
