The 8 Best Temples & Cultural Sites in Khao Lak, Ranked

Khao Lak's temples are working village wats rather than showpieces, and three of them sit within a few kilometers of Bang Niang and Khuk Khak. Wat Tha Sai, half an hour south, is the one worth a dedicated trip, and the cave temples lead inland toward Khao Sok.

Getting there

Phuket International Airport (HKT) is about 70–85 km south, 80–100 minutes by car (฿1,800 at the airport taxi counter) or about 2 hours by shared van (฿550–750 a seat). Buses from Bangkok's Southern Terminal reach Khao Lak town in 10–12 hours, and most stop on request along the resort strip.

Getting around

•Songthaews along the main coastal road (Phetkasem highway)
•Motorbike rental (฿250–300/day; the resort areas string along one road)
•Hotel shuttles and taxis — no Grab coverage to speak of
•Tour transfers to Khao Sok and the Similan piers are hotel-pickup based
