Diamond Cave / Phra Nang Nai Cave
Tucked into the north-east side of Railay Beach, this compact cavern offers an unusual pairing of natural geology and active spiritual practice. Dramatic limestone stalactite formations line the interior alongside Buddhist shrines and religious artifacts, giving the space a dual identity as both a natural attraction and a place of worship. A raised, well-maintained pathway runs throughout, meaning visitors can explore comfortably without crawling or scrambling — a feature that makes it accessible to most travellers. One of the more unexpected highlights is a resident colony of bats roosting in the upper reaches of the cave. Visitors who appreciate wildlife tend to find this a genuine bonus, though the bats are best observed without shining lights on them while they rest. Most people spend around 15 to 20 minutes inside, where the cooler air provides a welcome contrast to the heat of Railay Beach. Whether the experience justifies the entrance fee tends to divide opinion among visitors, so it is worth setting expectations accordingly. Good to know: The cave is open daily from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM and charges an entrance fee of 200 baht per person. Arriving earlier in the day generally means smaller crowds. Shoes with a firm grip are recommended, as cave surfaces can be uneven in places. As this is an active place of worship, respectful behaviour toward the shrines and their surroundings is appreciated.

Visitor Reviews
This was a beautiful surprise to find bats inside the cave which I wasn’t expecting. But I saw some review videos that showed people shining flashlights at the bats resting at the top. Please don’t do be that person. Respect the animals, bats are so sensitive to light. And it can damage their eyes. I get you want to see them flying around. But do some research before being a dumb tourist that does whatever they want.
The main concern of other reviews is value for money. For me personally, the cave was very exciting, although it is small. Where else but on a tropical island would you slow down, have a nice fruit shake, and take a stroll inside a cave filled with bats? Highly recommended.
Great cave. There are bats inside, which was a highlight. The cave itself has some beautiful formations and the paths are well maintained. It felt worth the 200 bhat entrance fee for us, but I’m sure that value depends on how much you enjoy caves.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture
Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
