Jomyoot Chicken Rice and Braised Pork
Tucked along Chai Songkhram Road in central Pai, this casual open-air eatery has built a loyal following among locals and visitors for its focused menu of two Thai comfort food classics: khao man gai (chicken rice) and khao kha moo (braised pork leg rice). The straightforward approach — doing a small number of dishes exceptionally well — is precisely what makes it stand out in a town full of tourist-oriented dining options. The setting is rustic and unpretentious, with outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere where travellers naturally eat alongside locals. The chicken rice is available boiled, fried, or grilled, served with fragrant jasmine rice, while the braised pork leg delivers the kind of slow-cooked, fall-apart texture that defines the dish. A generous spread of self-service condiments and sauces accompanies the meals, and the portions represent strong value — visitors have noted filling meals for multiple people at very low cost. The mix of food stalls nearby adds to the lively, informal character of the spot. Good to know: The restaurant opens daily at 8am and closes at 3pm, making it well-suited for breakfast or an early lunch before heading out to Pai's surrounding attractions. Wednesday is the only day it appears to be closed, so plan accordingly. Popular items can sell out as the morning progresses, so arriving earlier in the day is advisable. Cash payment is recommended, and the location on the main road makes it straightforward to find on foot from Pai town centre.

Visitor Reviews
A gem of a local find! Very rustic and unassuming environment seeing a good mix of locals and foreigners. The Khao Ka Moo (pork leg rice) was authentic - super tasty! The chicken rice was pretty good too. Recommend to get the small sizes so that you can taste everything on the menu for a group size of 2-4. Each between 40-60 THB. Plenty of parking inside and the staff are so patient and pleasant. There is also a variety of sauces recommended for each dish - super like the attention to details.
Another little gem. The food is simple but incredibly flavorful, and all the condiments that come with the meals are insanely good. Lot’s of good outdoor seating as well as other food stalls. We loved it so much we came here every day. Super affordable and absolutely worth it.
Best food I had in Pai! So simple but great value - I recommend the boiled chicken rice but they also do fried or grilled. The rice tastes fragrant too. It was so good I’ve been twice in a row and ordered 2 at a time. 10/10 🔥 Nice place to sit too under the trees outside.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
