Racha Khao Pad Pu (ราชาข้าวผัดปู)
Tucked away in the laid-back town of Pai, Racha Khao Pad Pu has built a devoted following for its carefully prepared Thai fried rice dishes and welcoming garden atmosphere. The restaurant's name nods to its signature crab fried rice, though the mushroom fried rice — known locally as Khao Pad Hed — draws equally enthusiastic praise from repeat visitors who describe the mushrooms as sautéed to a satisfying, meaty texture with generous portions. The setting is a notable draw in its own right. Diners eat surrounded by a well-decorated garden that creates a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere well suited to Pai's slow-travel character. Owners are known for their warm hospitality, with guests recounting touches like complimentary homegrown mango and iced water brought to the table. Prices are consistently described as fair for the quality and quantity on offer, and the Cha Manau — a fresh lemon iced tea — is a popular companion to any meal. Worth noting: the restaurant has recently moved to a new location on Tambon Wiang Tai, so visitors returning from a previous trip should confirm the current address before heading over. As specific opening hours are not publicly listed, it is advisable to check locally or ask at your accommodation before making the journey, particularly for an early or late meal.

Visitor Reviews
I'd come here for the atmosphere alone to be honest, however, we are also spoiled with absolutly DELICIOUS food! Very fresh with perfect balanced flavors! This is our second time coming and it was even better than the last time we came! The tom kha is one of my top favorites ive ordered in thailand so far and the chicken cashew rice matches it. Also, it's refreshing to eat in such a peaceful environment, both times we have been we've had the place to ourselves. The staff is quite friendly and were excited to come again!
New Location!!! I‘m so happy that they re-opened the restaurant. The have the best Khao Pad Hed (Mushroom Fried Rice) and Cha Manau (Lemon Ice Tea) in town😍😍😍 I literally eat here every second day. Come visit and support the lovely couple new at the restaurant in Kirina❤️❤️❤️
The atmosphere is gorgeous with well decorated garden. I ordered mushroom fried rice and it is really well cooked. The portion is quite much. The mushroom is sauteed and meaty. I think Uncle Roger would be satisfied with this fried rice and saying 'fuiyoh' not 'haiyah',

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
