Mheewok อาหารตามสั่ง
Tucked into the Wiang area of central Chiang Rai, this made-to-order Thai kitchen has earned a devoted following among locals and travellers alike. The open wok setup is visible from the street, with flames and the smell of fresh cooking setting expectations before visitors even sit down. Dishes like pad Thai and pad krapow have drawn particular praise from seasoned Thai food eaters, with reviewers highlighting the complexity of flavours and the skill behind the wok. The atmosphere is casual and unpretentious, with a genuinely local feel that sets it apart from the tourist-facing options near the Chiang Rai Night Bazaar — which is only a short walk away. The made-to-order format means dishes are cooked fresh to each order, and the friendly owners add to the relaxed, neighbourhood dining experience. It suits both solo travellers looking for a quick dinner and small groups wanting to linger over multiple dishes. Good to know: Hours vary noticeably by day. On Saturdays the kitchen opens at 11:00, making it one of the few days daytime dining is available. For the rest of the week, opening is at 17:00, with closing times ranging from 23:30 on Sundays to as late as 01:00 Monday through Friday. There is no website, so if you need to confirm current hours or have specific questions, visiting in person or asking your accommodation to call ahead is the most reliable option.

Visitor Reviews
This place is likely to become a bib grooming place in the future. The reason Baek Jong-won doesn't come here is because he has to order a lot of things to make it work. But to become famous, and for a restaurant to be confident, it has to have just one signature dish. They do sell other dishes, though. I tried it today and it was so delicious that I took a bite and immediately packed it to eat when I go to Phu Chi Pa tomorrow. The egg-free one is 50 Thai baht, and an egg is 10. The menu doesn't go into detail, but I guess that's just a cultural difference. In Korea, they seem to list everything in detail. But if you take a bite, the seasoning and smoky flavors are crazy delicious. I've been to Thailand over ten times and never eat pork fried rice, but this place is truly the best.
Wow this place is great! Immediately upon walking up to the restaurant you can tell it’s going to be good. The wok was enveloped in flames which is always a good sign. Maybe the best pad Thai I’ve had. The pad prik pao was also fantastic. Not too spicy but you could chomp on the peppers if you needed more of a kick. The pad prik gang was also really good but that was very spicy so stay away from that if you are looking for something more mild. Even though it doesn’t look like they serve drinks, you can still order beers and they’ll run across the street to get it for you. Highly recommend checking this place out for some really delicious Thai food!!
As an Asian who has eaten a lot of Thai food both in Singapore and Thailand… this pad krapow is the best I’ve had. The flavours were complex, just the right amount of sweet, salty and spice. The chef seriously knows what he’s doing, he’s a real master! We also tried the Rat Na and Pad Thai which were both extremely good as well. He is even detail oriented enough to even wash his wok between each cook. If I could only have only 1 meal in Chiang Rai I would come here!!!!! 🤤🤤🤤 SO AFFORDABLE TOO!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
