Sareeneen food & sweet (halal)
A reliable halal-certified spot on Prasopsook Road in central Chiang Rai, Sareeneen draws in Muslim travellers and locals alike with its affordable plates of Thai food and refreshing sweet drinks. Conveniently situated opposite the bus station, it is easy to find and makes a practical stop before or after travel connections, including routes toward the Golden Triangle. The setting is modest and unfussy — a roadside eatery rather than a polished restaurant — but visitors consistently praise the food for punching above its humble appearance. Standout mentions from diners include the tom yam goong and a green tea drink served with jelly balls. The menu spans a range of Thai dishes, and staff are noted for being helpful with spice levels when asked. Prices are firmly in budget territory, making it a solid choice for travellers watching their spending without wanting to compromise on a satisfying meal. Good to know: Sareeneen is open every day of the week from 10:00 to 21:00, so it fits most travel schedules whether stopping in for lunch or a later dinner. There is no website for advance inquiries, so anyone with specific dietary needs beyond halal certification should ask staff directly on arrival. The pork portions have received mixed feedback, so those prioritising meat quality may want to focus on other menu items.

Visitor Reviews
Come here for dinner, it is easy to find just opposite the bus station. There are lots of menus available. We ordered different types of food. The taste is nice especially the tomyam gong. But the portion is quite small. Then the price is very reasonable you can order 2 meals per person. The restaurant is very clean and the service is also fast. The staff is very nice. The environment is very comfortable even though the restaurant is not that big. But it is suitable to bring family. It is highly recommended to try one of the finest halal restaurants in Chiang rai
Nice food and very yummy green tea!! Food was a bit spice for my taste but they advise me when I asked! So it’s totally fine 🫶🏻 Drink very tasty and the jelly balls make it more special! Price is fair and staff friendly Thank you ladies 🙏
While waiting for our bus, we came across this little hole-in-the-wall spot, and despite its unassuming appearance, the food was absolutely fantastic. It’s not the fanciest but it’s one you definitely shouldn’t pass by if you’re in the area. We tried the Pad Thai and the minced meat dish, and both were incredibly tasty—bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The food was so good that the less-than-pristine surroundings didn’t bother us at all. If you’re after great food this is a place worth checking out. It’s a random find that left us pleasantly surprised and very satisfied!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
