Krua Dabb Lob
A compact, no-frills café on central Chiang Mai's Rachadamnoen Road, Krua Dabb Lob draws a steady crowd of locals and visitors alike. The kitchen has built a reliable reputation for well-executed Thai classics, with dishes like Tom Kha soup, Massaman curry, and papaya salad regularly praised for their depth of flavour. Orders arrive quickly, and meals for two have come in well under ten euros, making it one of the more affordable options in the city centre. The space is small and cosy with only a few tables, giving it a casual, unpretentious atmosphere. It sits on a lively street, so some noise from passing traffic is to be expected, particularly in the evenings. That said, visitors consistently highlight the friendly service and satisfying food as reasons to return, and the café tends to be visibly busy at mealtimes — a reliable indicator of its standing with regulars and newcomers alike. Good to know: Krua Dabb Lob is open every day from 10am, closing at 9pm most nights and 10pm on Sundays, which allows reasonable flexibility for both lunch and dinner. Some visitors find the daytime atmosphere better suited to the café setting, though the food quality holds across all hours. There is no website, so visiting in person is the most practical approach. The Rachadamnoen Road location in the Si Phum area puts it within easy walking distance of the old city and many central guesthouses.

Visitor Reviews
I’ve had lunch here several times, and the food is consistently very good. Everything is flavorful, and the Tom Kha soup is especially delicious. It’s a small, cozy Thai café with only a few tables. All seating is outdoors, so there are no indoor or enclosed areas, but the atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed. Overall, a lovely place with great food that I’m happy to return to.
Thank you for the wonderful food. I was just walking along Chiang Mai, my second day here, KDL was bustling with people so I went in. Lovely service, outstanding food, brought quickly to my table. Accompanied by a soda water. Delectable! ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
We went here for a dinner, food was very tasty and cheap - only 9 euros for two people. Maybe better place for lunch because of the diner atmosphere and noise from the street, but the food was too good to worry about that.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
