SEA Bangkok
Tucked along Sukhumvit 55 in Bangkok's Watthana district, SEA Bangkok is a small, home-style seafood restaurant that has earned a devoted following for the quality and freshness of its produce. Reviewers frequently note the intimate, unpretentious atmosphere — more neighbourhood gem than polished dining room — which lends the experience a relaxed, genuine character that stands apart from the grander establishments along the Sukhumvit corridor. The kitchen specialises in Thai seafood dishes prepared with care and precision. Standout plates include the charcoal grilled river prawns, which carry a distinctive smoky char and are typically served with nam jim dipping sauce, and the crab fried rice, which draws consistent praise from diners. The signature sea sauce — served alongside options such as tiger prawns — is another highlight worth ordering. Portions tend to be generous, and reviewers describe the seasoning as well-balanced: flavourful without being overwhelming. The tom yam also receives particular mention for its depth of flavour. Practically speaking, SEA Bangkok operates evenings only, opening at 5:00 PM and closing at 10:00 PM seven days a week. The restaurant is described as a small operation, so arriving earlier in the evening is advisable, particularly on weekends, to secure a table and avoid a wait. Price points are noted as higher than casual street-food options, though reviewers consistently regard the quality as good value. The location on Sukhumvit 55 is accessible via the BTS Skytrain and straightforward to reach using standard taxi or ride-hailing apps.

Visitor Reviews
Their famous sea sauce is indeed very delicious. We tried it with tiger prawns which I found to be so big that their meat was quite hard, similar to lobster more than shrimp. The bread that comes with it so to die for. You must dip it in the sauce or just stuff your face with it as is. Fried rice was unremarkable and the river prawn, while soft, didn’t taste like much. The soft shell crab with garlic was incredible — crunchy, juicy, and full of amazing flavor; very well seasoned and cooked. I wish they had some white wine to pair this with, instead you’ll find only large bottle of their local beer (which is common in many smaller places in Bangkok).
The seafood is so fresh!!! I feel like I'm at the seaside, even though I'm inside a small home business. Although it's expensive, it's worth it! We had a great time there. It wasn't crowded, and the waiters are friendly. However, I asked for ice for my drink, and the waiter brought us a whole bucket that we couldn't finish. We were also charged for the ice. It seems everything is an extra charge... That's the part that felt a little stingy.
Amazing seafood restaurant. So fresh & cooked really well. Service is also very friendly & professional 😊 Highly recommend getting the crab fried rice & charcoal grilled river prawns. Take note that it’s cash only but they have motorcycle service to the nearest ATM. Will definitely be back!

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
