Foodcourt Bamrung Mueang Market (ตลาดบำรุงเมือง)
Tucked away on the third floor of The Old Siam Plaza on Tri Phet Road, this renovated food court brings together a wide selection of traditional Thai vendors in a clean, air-conditioned setting at the edge of Bangkok's historic Phra Nakhon district. The recently updated space draws a loyal crowd of locals, including many regular senior patrons, which speaks to both the authenticity and the value on offer. Most stalls feature dishes starting at just 49 baht, covering classics like chicken rice and khao soi alongside less common finds such as khao soi pad — a wok-fried version of the northern Thai noodle dish that visitors report is rarely found elsewhere. The atmosphere is relaxed and communal, with a friendly, neighbourhood feel rather than a tourist-facing setup. Diners order directly from individual stalls and eat at shared tables, reflecting the informal rhythm of everyday Bangkok eating culture. The variety of vendors means options are plentiful across different dish types, from noodle soups and rice plates to snacks throughout the day. Good to know: The food court is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, making it a practical stop for lunch or an early dinner. The indoor, air-conditioned environment offers a comfortable retreat during Bangkok's hotter hours. The Tri Phet Road location also places it within easy walking distance of several Phra Nakhon landmarks, so it fits naturally into a day of exploring the old city.

Visitor Reviews
I've only tried two restaurants, so I may not be able to give a full review yet. However, from what I've tasted, the food is delicious, clean, and appropriately portioned. The food court is located on the 3rd floor of The Old Siam shopping mall, with air conditioning and a decent amount of seating. There's also flexibility in arranging tables for groups of 6-8 people comfortably.
The 3rd floor food court's been renovated. There are many selections ! Most of the stalls will have a 49 baht item, like 49 bht chicken rice, 49 bht Khao soi. Many senior citizens come here to hang out. There's also a new elevator to assist them.
A great variety of delicious food available at Bamrung Meung Market’s food court. The place not only offers authentic flavors, but also looks clean and feels homey. I loved the friendly atmosphere!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
