Horsamut
Situated along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok's historic Phra Nakhon district, Horsamut offers refined Thai dining with one of the city's most distinctive backdrops — an unobstructed view of Wat Arun directly across the water. The combination of a heritage riverside setting, carefully prepared food, and attentive service makes it a natural choice for celebratory meals, family dinners, or any occasion that warrants something more considered than everyday dining. The menu draws from Thai culinary traditions with evident care for both flavour and presentation. Standout dishes noted by visitors include the Sour Soup with Crispy Mangosteen — full of flavour and aroma without being overly spicy — and the Grilled Sun-Dried Squid. Presentations are thoughtfully executed across courses, and the service team receives consistent praise for being warm and genuinely attentive. Beverages also impress, with the mango smoothie earning particular mention from guests. Good to know: Horsamut is open daily from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, accommodating both lunch and dinner throughout the week. As an upscale restaurant in a heritage neighbourhood, parking is limited, and arriving by river taxi or the Chao Phraya Express Boat is both a practical and fitting approach. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for weekend evenings or larger groups, to secure a table with a river view.

Visitor Reviews
I celebrated my birthday at Horsamut today, and it was truly an amazing experience! A big thank you to all the staff, especially Captain Alex and the manager, who were incredibly friendly, cheerful, and attentive. Their warm service made the whole experience feel extra special from the moment I arrived. I even received an unexpected birthday surprise with a song and singing, which made the celebration so memorable. On top of that, I was given a complimentary drink, which was such a lovely gesture. The food was absolutely delicious, generous in portion, and very satisfying. Thank you so much for the wonderful service and for making my birthday celebration so special! And not to forget, to mention the view with Wat Arun view is the best!
Horsamut delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The food was fantastic — well-executed, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared and enjoyable, making the meal memorable on its own. What truly elevated the experience was the view. Sitting by the river, we had a gorgeous outlook of Wat Arun opposite, beautifully lit up at night, with cruise boats gliding past on the river. The atmosphere was calm, romantic, and uniquely Bangkok — perfect for a relaxed evening meal. Great food paired with a stunning riverside setting makes Horsamut a place worth revisiting. Highly recommended for both the cuisine and the view.
I liked the Sour Soup with Crispy Mangosteen the most. It was full of flavor and aroma, and pleasantly not spicy—I just wasn't fond of the green squash in the soup. The Grilled Sun-Dried Squid dish was lovely decorated and delicious. I especially appreciated that the seafood sauce was made the correct Thai way, not the blended green sauce that many restaurants use. The restaurant itself has an elegant and warm-toned atmosphere with high ceilings for indoor seating. It offers an exceptional view of Wat Arun and overlooks the Chao Phraya River with many boats sailing by.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
