Elements, Inspired by Ciel Bleu

4.6(267 reviews)

Housed within the Okura Bangkok hotel on Thanon Witthayu, this Michelin one-star restaurant draws inspiration from Amsterdam's acclaimed Ciel Bleu, translating that culinary philosophy into a refined Bangkok dining experience. The kitchen is best known for its multi-course tasting menus, with the "CHIKYU – Signature" menu earning particular praise from diners for its thoughtful progression and elegant presentation. Standout dishes noted by visitors include house-made yakisoba in uni sauce, and the overall experience is shaped by attentive, personalised service that complements the upscale atmosphere. The dining room is well-suited to special occasions, anniversary dinners, or serious food enthusiasts looking for a high-end evening out in central Bangkok. Each course arrives with careful presentation and tableside explanation, and the service team is consistently described as warm and professional. The restaurant operates exclusively as a dinner venue, open Wednesday through Sunday from 18:00 to 22:30, with no lunch service available. Good to know: Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for weekends, and can be made through the Okura Bangkok website. Smart to formal attire is appropriate for the setting. As a tasting menu restaurant, diners should allow a full evening for the experience rather than planning a quick meal. Reviewing the current menu and pricing online before booking is advisable, as tasting menus and seasonal offerings can change.

A Winter Gastronomic Journey Dining at Elements, Inspired by Le Ciel Bleu was nothing short of extraordinary. The Winter Gastronomic Journey, “CHIKYU – Signature,” felt deeply thoughtful and beautifully composed, a seamless dialogue between Japanese precision and modern European technique. The journey opened with Kansai region meji maguro paired with Oscietra caviar, chorizo, and puffed corn ice cream, setting a bold yet refined tone. Stone milled Yame Tanaka flour brioche arrived warm and comforting, elevated by salted French butter and smoked Ariake sea nori butter. Handmade yakisoba noodles with murasaki uni, hojiso, and myoga delivered incredible depth and balance. Jean Larnaudie foie gras with artichokes, dashi vinegar glaze, mimolette, and Medjool dates was rich yet elegant, followed by dry aged kasugo-dai with smoked mussels and kintoki carrot that felt precise and restrained. The koji aged free range poularde with kabocha squash and morels in vin jaune sauce was beautifully layered, while the Arita Farm Miyazaki Wagyu A4 striploin offered indulgence without excess. Dessert concluded the experience on a poetic note, from a refined Mont Blanc with roasted pecan and satsumaimo caramel to the Fukuoka Amaou strawberry paired with Cha-Am lemon custard and fig leaf ice cream. Every course felt intentional, seasonal, and quietly powerful, a true reflection of why Elements has held its Michelin star for nine consecutive years.

From the moment we were seated, Elements team displayed impeccable care. Drinks were promptly refreshed, napkins and bibs thoughtfully provided, and each dish presented with both elegance and clarity. The explanations of ingredients and culinary inspiration were delivered with precision, allowing us to fully appreciate the artistry and intent behind every creation. The cuisine itself was remarkable. The amuse-bouche was visually striking and perfectly balanced; the salmon with ikura tartare was a particular delight. The himi kan-buri crudo and the grilled cepes mushrooms were executed with finesse, showcasing exceptional technique and flavor. The Hokkaido Wagyu A4, served as the main course, was cooked to perfection and fully befitting a Michelin-star experience. While the dessert was slightly sweeter than my personal preference, its presentation and artistry were exquisite. Thank you once again for a flawless evening, extraordinary cuisine, and attentive service. Congratulations on your continued Michelin-star recognition. I very much look forward to returning next year to experience your seasonal offerings.

Ordered 6 courses of Chikyu signature and did not disappointed. All the starters are really amazing. We specially like the homemade yakisoba in uni sauce. Truely enjoy all the courses and we did get some special black truffle topping as a birthday gift. Thank you!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
