LOFTER

4.2(1,389 reviews)$$$$

The card system is what makes this one worth knowing about. You pick up a card at the entrance, order from whichever stalls you fancy, and pay the lot when you hand it back on the way out. No topping up a prepaid card and no guessing how much to load. The one catch is the exit, where everyone settles at the same counter, so expect a short queue at peak lunch.

Sixth floor of Central Chidlom, and the window seats look across at Central Embassy next door, which is a better view than most food courts manage. The spread runs Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian and Italian. Reviewers keep coming back to the Hong Kong style beef noodle soup and the congee with beef and century egg. Portions run a bit larger than the usual food court fare and the prices sit slightly above it too, which feels fair. Staff clear trays quickly and even bring food to your table, so it doesn't have that scramble-for-a-seat feel.

A foodcourt that implements a slightly different payment system : each visitor / customer is given a "credit card" at the entrance, and all costs of food and beverage ordered will be charged to said card, and you will pay everything at the exit point when returning the card. This makes entering the place easier (you just need to collect the "credit card" in lieu of paying for a prepaid cards like most other foodcourts), but I imagine there might be a queue at the exit point due to a centralized payment system. Having said that, it is crowded during lunch time, around 1200-1400. Besides serving different varieties of good food at affordable prices, it is also a tidy and beautiful place with many different sections for seating.

This place is amazing. Atmosphere was nice, selection was great, and the service is amazing. You go around and order by scanning a card, you set your receipt on the table and they have people that grab your food for you and you pay when you leave. The food portions are larger than other food courts and the food is only a little more expensive. The food itself was good as well and a good selection of drinks and deserts. Must try if you are staying nearby.

⭐ 4 Stars – Good Food, Great Variety, and Convenient Location Lofter at Central Chidlom is a great spot when you want quality food with lots of variety in one place. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable, and the ordering system is very convenient. There are plenty of options to choose from — Thai dishes, noodles, rice bowls, and international favorites — so it’s easy to find something for every taste. The food quality is consistently good, portions are reasonable, and service is quick. Prices are slightly on the higher side compared to regular food courts (e.g Terminal 21), but the ingredients and overall environment justify it. A very solid choice for a casual lunch or dinner while shopping at Central Chidlom. I’ll definitely return! 🍜🍲✨

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
