Jazz Up
Tucked away in the laid-back town of Pai, Jazz Up is a live music bar that stands apart from the surrounding nightlife strip. The venue draws on the kind of intimate, unpretentious atmosphere that long-time visitors associate with Pai's earlier days, making it a genuine find for travellers who care about music and good company. The owner is a vocalist who regularly performs alongside visiting musicians, bringing a soulful, Alberta Hunter-esque quality to the sets. The space itself is relaxed and welcoming, with both table seating and hammocks on the terrace — a setup that encourages lingering. Music spans jazz and rock, and the drinks are well regarded by regulars. The crowd tends to be warm and social, and the staff contribute to an atmosphere that feels more like a gathering than a night out. More than one visitor has described the bar as the highlight of their time in Pai. Sunday open mic nights are a particular draw, bringing together local and travelling musicians for a more spontaneous evening. As a relatively new venue, Jazz Up has quickly built a loyal following, so arriving early on weekends is a practical idea. No website is currently listed, so it is worth asking locally or checking at your accommodation for current opening hours before heading over.

Visitor Reviews
When I walked by this place, I saw that it was different than all the other bars around, so I decided to have a look. It is a very cozy venue and there are even some chill hammocks :-) I enjoyed a delicious cocktail and loved the live music - some jazz and blues. Again different than the other live music places in town. I wish I would be here for the open mic on Sunday!
A truly wonderful place. It has only been open for a few days. The atmosphere here, together with the great music, brought back memories of Pai in the old days. The ambiance is excellent, tucked away along the walking street. If you enjoy good music in a relaxed, laid-back setting, this is definitely a place you should stop by 🎶🌿🌙
This is my favourite bar in Pai, exactly what I was looking for. Great atmosphere, nice music, jazz and rock, and amazing people. The staff are fantastic and the drinks are excellent. I’ve ended up coming here every day.
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
