LOCO Bar
Tucked away in the Bophut area of Koh Samui, LOCO Bar has earned a loyal following among travellers looking for good drinks, fair prices, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. The bar sits close to the local night market, making it a natural stop for an evening drink without the inflated prices found at some of the island's more polished venues. The cocktail menu is a clear drawcard. Visitors frequently single out the mojitos and cosmopolitans as standouts, with staff — particularly Emily and Dan — praised for their warmth and bartending skills. The atmosphere leans casual and cosy rather than loud and hectic, attracting a crowd that tends to stay longer than planned. The odd roaming chicken has apparently become part of the charm. On the practical side, opening hours are not publicly confirmed online, and at least one visitor has noted that the bar operates on days when it appears to be listed as closed — so it is worth stopping by even if a quick search suggests otherwise. No booking appears to be necessary given the relaxed, drop-in nature of the venue. It suits solo travellers, couples, and small groups equally well, and works best as an early-evening start or a low-key wind-down spot rather than a late-night dance venue.

Visitor Reviews
Always went there for my Mojito-Refill. Seriously - one of the best mojitos I have ever had. I think Mojitos are a hard drink to master. In most countries they are either too sweet or too watery or else. Anyhow - if you want a good mojito (and a friendly face serving it) - you HAVE to come here☺️
Omg….says closed on Monday but they are not!!! Had a fabulous time with Emily and Dan. Drinks are amazeballs, music is great….just watch out when the chickens do a roof run!!! lol. Pay them a visit…..hidden gem next to the Central Samui comercial centre market!!!!
Good prices for drinks, Emily makes a lovely cosmopolitan ❤️. Friend and relaxed atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
