The Phoenix Cnx
Situated on Charoen Prathet Road in Chiang Mai's established entertainment strip, this bar and nightclub draws a mixed crowd of locals and travellers looking for a social evening out. The venue has a genuine club atmosphere, with live performers and music that visitors consistently highlight as a strong point. Staff friendliness also earns regular praise, giving the place a welcoming energy that suits solo travellers and groups alike. The venue is mid-range in pricing, though drinks are largely structured around bottle service rather than individual pours — reviewers note that ordering by the glass is limited, so those coming in pairs or small groups should factor this into their budget. Food is available but service times have been inconsistent, so it is best treated as a drinking and dancing destination rather than a dining stop. Good to know: The Phoenix Cnx genuinely comes alive after midnight, so arriving early means a quieter, less energetic experience than the venue is known for. On busy nights and special occasions such as Halloween, the venue may apply minimum spend or package requirements per table, so it is worth confirming the arrangement before settling in. The Charoen Prathet Road location is walkable from the Night Bazaar area and accessible by tuk-tuk from most central parts of Chiang Mai.

Visitor Reviews
I had a great time at this local club. The staff is very very friendly. The music is great and the performers put on an excellent show.
It is an outstanding nightclub that gets really busy after 12 am daily.
After ordering drinks, I've also ordered french fries. They have arrived after 40 minutes - cold. I could see them on the bar waiting for the staff to pick them up for over 10 minutes. May I suggest to the management that hot food, should be treated with priority, and delivered ASAP after leaving kitchen.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
