Lang Mor Night Market
Tucked behind Chiang Mai University in the Su Thep neighbourhood, this street market draws a crowd of students, locals, and visitors every evening for one main reason: affordable, authentic Thai food. The market runs the full length of Suthep Road's back stretch, with stalls serving everything from stir-fried Thai basil pork rice and fried potatoes to fresh fruit drinks like longan juice. Portions are generous, prices are low, and the energy is decidedly local rather than tourist-facing. The atmosphere reflects its university setting — casual, busy, and unpretentious. Vendors line both sides of the street while students fill plastic chairs at small makeshift cafes tucked into corners. Popular stalls draw queues, particularly during the dinner rush, and the variety on offer makes it easy to graze across multiple dishes in a single visit. This is everyday Chiang Mai street food culture in its most unfiltered form. A practical note for visitors: the market runs daily from 5pm to 9pm, and arriving around 6pm tends to offer the best balance of crowd energy and stall availability. Some vendor locations shift over time, so expect a little exploration. Cash in Thai baht is essential, as card payments are not accepted. Comfortable footwear is recommended for navigating the busy street environment.

Visitor Reviews
I lived on Suthep Road for several weeks and loved seeing the street come to life at night with so many amazing food stalls. I normally had no plans for what to eat prior my trips to Lang Mor Night Market. I walked down there whenever I was hungry and gravitated towards whatever looked good. Whenever I was undecided, I’d join a line and try whatever looked popular. Many stalls did not have seating, so I either got takeaways and ate back home, or planned accordingly and purchased takeaways prior to purchasing a meal from a stall with seatings.
Located at the back door of Chiangmai University, all kinds of local foods provided in this night market. University students and tourists all enjoyed the cheap price but sometimes you need to queue for particularly popular foods like avocado smoothies and prawn spring rolls.
It is an affordable street food behind the Chiangmai university! I love the stir fry thai basil pork rice, it is a comfort food to me and then I get a longan drink, the portion is huge! I would like to come back try other food

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
