Walking Street Nimman Soi 6
Tucked along Soi 6 in Chiang Mai's trendy Nimman neighbourhood, this weekly Friday night market offers a relaxed alternative to the city's larger, busier markets. Running the full length of the soi, it features around 500 stalls organised into distinct sections covering street food, clothing, footwear, souvenirs, crafts, and even massage services — making it easy to browse without feeling overwhelmed. The atmosphere is lively but manageable, with live band performances adding to the evening mood. Food is a clear highlight, with fresh, affordable options drawing both locals and visitors. Standout stalls have included freshly made gyoza, and the general food selection leans heavily toward Thai street fare. Alongside the edibles, shoppers will find handmade crafts and second-hand items worth browsing at a leisurely pace. Good to know: the market runs on Fridays only, from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, so planning around that single window is essential. Its location in the Nimman area makes it especially convenient for those already staying or dining in that part of the city, and the compact layout means the entire market can be walked through comfortably in one visit. Comfortable shoes are recommended for an evening of strolling the length of the soi.

Visitor Reviews
Nice little area that scratches the night market itch if you live around the Nimman area. You can easily stroll through the entire market . There's one section for food, one for massages, one for food trucks, one for crafts, and finally a little stage with a seating area. In terms of food, you won't find too much healthy, but you'll more or less find everything that you would expect from a Thai night market e.g. northern sausage, rice dishes, pad thai, fried meats, baked goods, seafood, fresh juice, varieties of Thai desserts etc. It's perfect for a Friday respite if you don't feel like going to a bigger market on Saturday or Sunday.
A very walkable market - not overwhelming. Around 500 stalls running the length of Nimman Soi 6, featuring a good range of reasonably priced food, along with clothing, footwear, souvenirs. Not yet a "tourist" market, so mainly Thais with prices to match. Friday nights only. The number of one star reviews from local Western residents, complaining about the noisy music, result in a biased overall star rating. It's worth a visit.
Amazing market, fresh, delicious food. I live right next door too, and music is not too much. Loved gyoza stall! Made fresh and very tasty! All food is cheap. Lots of crafts and second hand items too, even manicure and foot Thai massage!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
