Don Wai Floating Market
Situated along the banks of a river in Nakhon Pathom province, roughly 30 kilometres from central Bangkok, Don Wai Floating Market is a well-established local market that draws both Thai visitors and tourists seeking an authentic glimpse into traditional riverside commerce. Accessed through an adjacent temple, the market is anchored in genuine community life rather than tourist spectacle, and its long-standing reputation reflects that character. Vendors line the riverfront with an extensive spread of Thai street food, including roast duck, boat noodles, fresh tropical fruits, and a wide variety of traditional Thai sweets and desserts. Beyond food, shoppers will find fresh vegetables, plants, flowers, handicrafts, and everyday goods. Covered seating areas along the water allow visitors to eat while watching river activity, and sightseeing boat trips are available for those who want to explore the area from the water. Weekends draw larger crowds and the market opens earlier, from 07:00, making Saturday or Sunday morning the most popular time to visit. Parking is available on-site, though it can become tight during busy periods. The market is a practical stop for travellers heading to or from Kanchanaburi. As with most outdoor markets in Thailand, lightweight, breathable clothing is advisable, as the open-air setting can get warm during the day. Weekday visits between 08:00 and 17:00 offer a quieter experience for those who prefer to browse at a slower pace.

Visitor Reviews
One of my favorite floating market located around 30 km from Bangkok city. I usually visit here on Saturday or Sunday. From toys, plants, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, Thai local snacks until heave meals are availabe here. I like to have lunch in one of restaurants beside river. We also can ride the boat and bring the snacks on the boat. Just buy the boat ticket onsite.
There are a lot of Thai local food at this market. The prices are reasonable. The parking maybe a bit challenging but was not that bad. The weather was hot and the market could be crowded sometimes. Try the duck, it was good. I spent like 2 hours walking shoping around.
We dropped by this market on way to Kanchanaburi. Great venue to experience the local vibe and way of life. From fresh food to local Thai desserts to snacks, it has lots of variety. I even saw accessories stores (for kids) and a store selling bling bling jewellery.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
