Located in the Makkasan area of Ratchathewi district, The Ecotel Bangkok Hotel offers straightforward, well-equipped accommodation suited to travellers looking for a reliable base without excess. The hotel provides comfortable rooms and suites, complimentary breakfast, free Wi-Fi, a restaurant, and a terrace, making it a practical choice for both short stays and longer visits to the city. Guests generally report clean, decent rooms with good amenities including in-room lockers. The atmosphere is unfussy and functional rather than luxurious. The surrounding neighbourhood is noted for its proximity to a range of Indian restaurants, which may appeal to South Asian travellers in particular. Staff have been praised for friendliness, and flexible early check-in has been accommodated on occasion, which is a welcome touch for those arriving after long flights. Visitor Reviews
If anyone is wondering why this hotel has mixed reviews, I’d like to share my honest experience. I’m a citizen of Sri Lanka and stayed at this hotel for 4 days. Overall, my experience was very positive. The staff and hotel crew were extremely helpful, polite, and professional. Thai hospitality is truly exceptional, warm, respectful, and consistently welcoming. Some of the negative reviews, in my opinion, are not due to the hotel itself, but rather due to the behavior and expectations of a certain type of guests. If you take time to read the low-rated reviews carefully, you’ll notice that many of them seem to come from the same group / country of people, often expecting rules to be bent or ignored in shared spaces. The hotel has clear signs near the buffet such as “Do not eat while sitting” and “Do not take food outside the buffet area.” These rules exist because some guests fail to follow basic public etiquette, making it difficult for staff to manage the dining area comfortably for everyone. During one breakfast, I personally witnessed behavior that was disruptive and unpleasant for other guests. In the common washroom area, there was also a notice stating “Absolutely no showers allowed,” which further shows how shared facilities are sometimes misused by certain group / country people. None of this should reflect poorly on the hotel. The staff clearly put in effort to maintain standards despite these challenges. I’d especially like to mention the cleaning lady who serviced our room daily she always greeted us with a warm smile and kept the room spotless. Small gestures like this reflect the genuine kindness of Thai people. In conclusion, I would gladly stay at this hotel again on my next visit to Bangkok. If you are a respectful and considerate traveler, these issues mentioned in some reviews will not affect your stay. Don’t let the mixed reviews discourage you the hotel and its people truly deserve appreciation
“Great stay at Ecotel Bangkok. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and they kindly allowed me an early check-in which was very helpful after my trip. Good location and good value for money.”
The rooms were great and well equipped with lockers. Complimentary breakfast was provided, which was nice. As it was peak season, helper service was not available and we had to carry our baggage on our own
