Bang Lamung Wildlife Breeding Station
This government-operated wildlife breeding station in Bang Lamung District is a genuine conservation facility rather than a commercial attraction, making it a refreshingly authentic stop near Pattaya. The station is best known for its sizeable population of Asian bears — including sun bears and other regional species — many of which were rescued from illegal captivity and cannot be released into the wild. Deer, monkeys, and other animals are also housed on the grounds, which visitors describe as surprisingly large and well-maintained. Entry to the station is completely free, and visitors are welcome to feed the sun bears using food supplied on-site, with donations accepted but not required. The habitat conditions lean toward naturalistic settings for many of the animals, reflecting the facility's conservation focus. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, making it a good fit for families, wildlife enthusiasts, and anyone interested in seeing animals in a non-commercial environment. A large reservoir is also located within the area, adding to the appeal for those who want to explore further. Good to know: The station opens daily from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, though at least one visitor notes the facility may have limited weekend-only public access at certain times — it is worth confirming current opening arrangements before visiting, as no official website is available. Pairing the visit with a stop at nearby Khao Chi Chan makes for a convenient half-day itinerary. Wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking outdoor paths, and bring sun protection.

Visitor Reviews
We went there two days ago on our way back from a walk around Khao Chi Chan. YOu can feed the sun bears for free; they will supply the food, and if you would like, you can donate some cash. It's tidy and well-maintained. Friendly staff members warn us to exercise caution, particularly when there are deer wandering around. Even just observing those bears was a worthwile experience. I hope this breeding centre stays open. Without a doubt, I urge everyone to go there.
This place is open only on Saturdays. Admission is absolutely free. A huge number of bears. Good care. Many bears live in conditions close to wild ones, which is good news. And if you go further into the forest, you will meet herds of roe deer and a huge number of wild monkeys. If you move quietly, you can get very close to these animals. Monkeys are not aggressive.
A place to visit for all animal lovers. This is a government-run shelter for wild animals especially tens of black bears who have never roamed wild due to our human negligence and cruelty. The shelter encourage visitors to give more fresh fruits and vegetables to bears. Do not bring in any artificial red syrup to feed animals.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
