RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort Chiang Mai
Sitting along the banks of the Ping River on Changklan Road, RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort is a full-service resort hotel that draws on the ancient Lanna cultural traditions of northern Thailand. The property is distinguished by its all-wood furnishings, jasmine-scented arrival experience, and décor that pays genuine homage to Chiang Mai's historic identity — creating an atmosphere that feels both rooted in place and carefully considered. Guests have access to spa and massage facilities, a restaurant, bar, and fitness amenities, making it a self-contained retreat that suits both leisure travellers and those visiting for dedicated wellness time. Rooms at the resort benefit from riverside views, and the staff — many of whom have been with the property for a decade or more — are consistently noted for attentive, personal service. The combination of elegant surroundings and genuine hospitality makes it a popular choice for honeymooners and special occasions, though the setting suits any traveller looking for a calm base with character in central Chiang Mai. Good to know: The resort sits on Changklan Road, which provides convenient access to the Night Bazaar and central Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai's peak tourism season runs from November through February, when the city is at its busiest and accommodation fills quickly. Booking well in advance for this period is strongly recommended, particularly for those wanting specific room types or spa appointments. Confirming current spa schedules and restaurant hours directly with the property before arrival is advisable.

Visitor Reviews
We had an absolutely incredible time at the RatiLana. From beginning to end we felt taken care of and had nothing to worry about except for what to pick from the restaurant's menu! As this was our honeymoon, they graciously upgraded us to an executive suite upon arrival and gave us a room experience we never would have gotten on our own. The room was beyond clean and spacious with a fantastic balcony overlooking the peaceful pool. Dining by the river was also a great experience, soaking up the view and enjoying the occassional lizard scampering on the exterior. We also deeply appreciated when one of us fell ill, the staff were able to suggest a nearby hospital that often cared for international travelers, reducing our stress in interacting with an unfamliar medical system. A simple check in from that same staff member the following morning showed a level of care and thoughtfulness that we deeply appreciated as well. If and when we return to Chiang Mai, the RatiLana is at the top of our list of places to stay at.
From the moment we arrived, we were met with the warmest of welcomes, an outstanding level of hospitality that continued throughout our entire stay. The gentle scent of jasmine greets you as soon as you step through the doors, instantly setting the tone for what is truly the epitome of relaxation and tranquillity. This hotel felt like a peaceful retreat from the busy, often frantic (but fun!) Chiang Mai city centre. The riverside restaurant was excellent and such a peaceful spot. Having it open all day with a fabulous dinner service in the evening was a real bonus. We absolutely loved our stay here .
We had the best stay here as a part of our honeymoon. Every interaction we had with staff was so kind. We particularly loved the folks at breakfast. We were lucky enough to receive a room upgrade and our room was beautiful. The pool area was gorgeous and the most relaxing place to hang out after a morning of exploring. While a little bit off the beaten path, there are some great food options within walking distance and getting a car via Grab was easy and affordable! I wish I had taken more pictures of the space, but do have a couple photos of lovely breakfast.
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
