Moon Terrace Lounge, Kata Rooftop Restaurant
Perched atop what appears to be one of the tallest buildings in the Kata area, Moon Terrace Lounge offers sweeping views over Kata Beach and Phuket's western coastline. The rooftop setting makes it a natural choice for sunset dining, with the open-air vantage point remaining visually rewarding well into the evening. The menu leans Mediterranean, with tapas and pasta dishes drawing particular praise from visitors, alongside a cocktail list that regularly earns compliments on its own. The atmosphere strikes a balance between relaxed and romantic — casual enough for families and groups of friends, yet well-suited to couples looking for an evening setting with some ambience. Staff are consistently noted as friendly and welcoming, and the combination of good food, decent drinks, and elevated views gives the venue a strong overall reputation among visitors to the Kata area. The rooftop fills out gradually through the evening, meaning early arrivals may enjoy a quieter, more private experience. Moon Terrace opens at 5:30 PM every day of the week and closes at 11:00 PM, with no lunch service. Arriving close to opening time is a practical strategy for those wanting to catch the sunset before the crowd builds, particularly during peak season between November and February. Reservations are accepted and recommended for larger groups. Check the venue's website at metadeephuket.com/dining/moon-terrace/ for current menus or any updates to service hours before visiting.

Surprised to find tapas and pasta dishes. We had tapas which was very nice and some extremely good cocktails. Think it was the tallest building around so very good views.
The rooftop is amazing! Beautiful view, really good food and the staff is super nice. Worth every penny!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
