Coconut Seafood Restaurant
Sitting right on the beachfront in Tambon Ko Kaeo near central Phuket, this seafood restaurant has earned a loyal following among both travellers and locals. The setting alone draws people in — shaded tables with unobstructed water views — but it is the consistently fresh seafood and well-executed Thai classics that keep diners coming back night after night. Reviewers frequently mention returning multiple times during a single stay, with the Pad Thai, prawn noodles, spicy seafood dishes, and Thai fish cakes all drawing particular praise. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, making it equally suited to a casual solo lunch or a leisurely evening meal with family or friends. The kitchen handles both seafood and broader Thai dishes with confidence, and staff have shown a willingness to accommodate dietary preferences such as adjusting spice levels on request. Pricing is considered reasonable given the beachfront location and quality of ingredients. One practical note for visitors: opening hours are not publicly listed online, and the restaurant does not appear to have a website. It is worth checking with your accommodation or calling ahead before making the trip, particularly if you are planning an evening visit. Arriving at dusk is worth considering, as the atmosphere during evening service receives strong praise from guests who have dined there.

Visitor Reviews
We ate at Coconut Seafood pretty much every night for 10 nights, which says everything really. The food was amazing, always fresh and full of flavour, and the atmosphere was incredible, especially in the evenings with the beautiful view looking out over the bay. Nothing was ever too much trouble — everything is cooked fresh and made with real care. One of the highlights for me personally was being invited into the kitchen to learn how to make proper Pad Thai. Not only did they show me step by step, they even gave me the sauces to take home, which was such a lovely and unexpected touch. Our children were treated unbelievably well — it’s a genuinely family-run business, and you can feel how much they care about their customers. They made us feel welcome from the very first visit and by the end of our stay felt more like friends than staff. If you’re visiting Phuket, this place is an absolute must-visit. We can’t wait to come back next year.
Located right on the beachfront Coconut Seafood Restaurant is an ideal island setting for an evening meal. We tried three mains, a prawn noodle, spicy seafood, chicken tom yum and the Thai fish cakes for starters. All of the mains were flavoursome and generally well balanced, the only criticism being they could have held back a little on the salt. The fish cakes were huge, and delicious, probably the best we've had in Phuket. The staff were super friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. For three mains, one starter, a jasmine rice, one fresh coconut and four small Chang beers we paid around 1500 baht, relatively expensive for Phuket but quite reasonable considering its quite a remote area. Prices at the two resorts on the island would be considerably more. If you are staying on Coconut Island a visit here is highly recommended.
I ate here every day during my stay in Phuket and it was absolutely amazing! The Pad Thai was the best I’ve ever had. I’m not a fan of spicy food, and they really respected that — they served me a wonderful, perfectly balanced Pad Thai. I also tried the mango sticky rice, and it was spectacular! The atmosphere is incredible and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this place!
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
