Mit Samui Restaurant
A family-run neighbourhood restaurant in the Bo Put area of Koh Samui, this long-established spot has earned a devoted following among both local residents and returning travellers who seek out authentic Thai cooking away from the island's more tourist-facing dining scene. The kitchen focuses on seafood alongside classic Thai dishes prepared to local tastes, and the combination of generous portions and budget-friendly pricing makes it easy to eat well and order broadly without concern for the bill. The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming, with a casual setup that comfortably accommodates large groups. Cold beers, attentive service, and food that regulars describe as genuinely authentic are the draw here rather than elaborate décor or presentation. Some visitors have returned seven or more times across multiple trips to Koh Samui, which speaks clearly to the consistency of both the food and the experience. The owners are widely noted for the care they extend to guests, giving the restaurant a warmth that is difficult to replicate in more commercial settings. Good to know: Opening hours are not listed online, so it is advisable to check locally or ask at nearby accommodation before making the trip, particularly during quieter periods when schedules may vary. The Bo Put market location makes it a convenient stop when exploring the surrounding neighbourhood, and the restaurant's capacity means larger groups can be accommodated without difficulty.

The BEST Authentic Thai Food on Koh Samui – Our Family's Home Restaurant! After visiting Koh Samui and finally eating at the restaurant my father has called his "home" for the last 15 years, I now completely understand why! This establishment is a rare gem that genuinely deserves every single one of these five stars. 🍽️ Culinary Excellence and Unbeatable Variety The variety of dishes on the menu is simply outstanding, offering something to delight every palate—from classic, well-executed Thai staples to unique regional specialties. Crucially, the food is incredibly tasty and unmistakably authentic. This isn't watered-down tourist fare; this is the real deal. 🌟 Personalized Service That Goes Above and Beyond What sets this restaurant apart is the truly remarkable staff. Their welcoming nature and genuine Thai hospitality make you feel instantly at ease. They are incredibly supportive and willing to customize every single item on the menu to suit your exact taste and dietary needs. Whether you want an adjustment to the spice level, a specific ingredient swapped, or just need guidance, they handle it with a smile. 🌱 Fantastic for Everyone (Including Vegetarians!) My friends and I were particularly impressed with the excellent, thoughtful vegetarian options. It’s clear they take pride in accommodating all guests, ensuring no one misses out on a delicious, authentic meal. 💖 A Trustworthy and Immaculate Experience The entire restaurant is spotlessly clean—a detail that makes the dining experience even more pleasant and comfortable. Perhaps most refreshingly for a tourist area, their prices are honest and fair, without any hidden "tourist tax." You get incredible value for truly high-quality food. This isn't just a restaurant; it’s an experience built on genuine warmth, incredible food, and dedicated service. We will be back countless times!
Best Thai restaurant on the island. My partner and I have been to this place seven times over two trips to Koh Samui. We kept on returning because there simply isn’t another place that we believed would give us a better experience and meal. The owner and staff are so friendly and welcoming, they recognized us and always greeted us with warmth. They treated us so well and took great care of us. Service was quick, food never disappoints. The flavors are so well balanced and authentic, great and generous portions as well as freshness of seafood. I simply cannot recommend this place enough, please do yourself a favor and have a meal here.
My favorite restaurant in Samui, highly recommended by locals. The food is truly authentic and delicious, and the staff are incredibly attentive. You can feel how much the owners care about their guests: there are photos everywhere that give the place a warm, personal touch. There are plenty of menu options and everything we tried was excellent. We ended up going four times, which says it all!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
