Fah Muey Restaurant
Fah Muey is a family-run seafood restaurant concealed at the end of an alley in central Hua Hin, opening onto the water in a setting that rewards those willing to seek it out. The entrance is easy to miss — visitors pass through what appears to be a vacant lot before arriving at a genuinely local dining spot that has built a loyal following among both residents and travellers. The menu leans into traditional Thai coastal cooking, with standout dishes including sweet calamari, deep-fried crispy fish, mussels, and an orange soup that regulars return for. A daily specials board adds variety, and the seaside seating gives meals an unhurried, atmospheric quality. Service is warm and characteristically family-run in style, with long-time regulars describing a welcoming, unpretentious experience from arrival. The restaurant opens daily from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with an earlier 9:00 AM opening on Thursdays. Because the entrance is genuinely obscure, it helps to check photos in advance before navigating the alley — most visitors agree the effort is well worth it. Arriving mid-afternoon avoids the busiest periods, and the casual, no-frills setting means reservations are generally unnecessary for small groups, though larger parties may want to contact the restaurant ahead of time during peak weekend evenings.

Visitor Reviews
I highly recommend Fah Muey restaurant! It’s a little hard to find because it is on the water at the end of a vacant lot (see the picture of the entrance) and it looks like you are walking into a kitchen (which you are). The restaurant looks a little rustic, but it was full of Thai people, which is usually a good sign. We had the cabbage in fish sauce, which is also served with cashew nuts. Cabbage in fish sauce is one of my favorites, but this was a combination I hadn’t had before and it worked well together. We also had the fried sea bass in sweet and sour sauce, which was amazing and cooked perfectly with crunchy skin, but tender meat and the sauce was wonderful! These are the only two dishes I can attest to, but they were both excellent and reasonably priced!
A true hidden gem in the center town of Hua Hin! The restaurant is hidden in an easy-to-miss alley. Through that, you can see the authenticity of this family-owned restaurant, like the granny greet us very warmly!! And their food? We were so amazed by how good and fresh each of the seafood was. The seabass, both the deepfried and the lemon sauce, is without a doubt a must try. So is their scallops with butter onion sauce! 10/10 we went there twice during our stay in Hua Hin because their price is also very reasonable too
This fantastic local seafood restaurant offers authentic and delectable traditional cooking. I particularly enjoy the Muscle, Orange Soup, and Deep-Fried Crispy Fish. They also have a special daily menu based on the freshest ingredients. I highly recommend visiting, but be prepared for the challenge of finding parking in the nearby area.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
