The Peak Wine & Grill เดอะพีค ไวน์ แอนด์ กริลล์
Perched on the 10th floor of what appears to be the Riverie hotel complex, The Peak Wine & Grill offers something genuinely rare in Chiang Rai: an elevated rooftop setting with sweeping sunset views over the city. The combination of an open-air bar atmosphere, attentive service, and a well-stocked wine list makes it a standout evening destination for travellers looking to wind down in style after a day of exploring the region. The venue leans Western in its food offering, with a menu centred on grilled meats including tenderloin steak and braised pork dishes, alongside salads and sides. Visitor experiences with the food are mixed, with some meals landing better than others, though the bread, sides, and house red wine draw consistent praise for their value. The cocktails are described as competent rather than exceptional, but the sunset views consistently draw visitors back regardless. Staff are frequently noted as friendly and attentive, and the venue itself is well-maintained. Good to know: The Peak operates exclusively in the evenings, opening daily at 5:30 PM, making it dinner and sundowner territory only. A happy hour runs from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, which is an ideal time to arrive to catch the sunset and take advantage of reduced cocktail prices. The venue is not within easy walking distance of central Chiang Rai, so arranging transport in advance is recommended.

Visitor Reviews
We came here on recommendation to watch the sunset and have a drink and we were so glad. The 10th floor bar of this golf club-like institution has a relaxed vibe and the cocktails from 6pm to 7pm (I think) are great value under 200 BT each. Good service and well worth a visit. The evening menu looked nice too but I am unable to comment on the food as we had already booked somewhere else.
We have eaten here twice. First time was better as our food was cooked perfectly and served hot. Views were amazing. Staff is very attentive. Wine list is ok. The bread is yummy and I liked the sides. We shared the Argentinian filet mignon for two, with mashed potatoes, mushrooms and creamy spinach. Delicious!! Finished with crème brûlée. Mmmm! I liked it much better than Hungry Wolf’s.
Phenomenal view. The view makes up for the cocktails, which were fine. For happy hour they were a reasonable price too. Free nuts! Very friendly service. We walked from the town, which was a bit of a stroll and then through the hotel grounds, but easily manageable. Not busy, there were only about 8 or 9 people up there at sunset, which was gorgeous, so felt very relaxed.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
