The OT Dispensary - OLD TOWN
Situated in Chiang Mai's historic Old Town, The OT Dispensary is a cannabis dispensary and social lounge operating under Thailand's legal cannabis framework. The venue has built a strong reputation for knowledgeable, welcoming staff who take time to guide visitors through their selection of premium products, making it equally approachable for first-timers and experienced consumers alike. The space is designed for lingering. Visitors can settle into a comfortable upstairs room with air conditioning, a PS5, and a small patio, or head up to the fourth-floor rooftop lounge where smoking is permitted with open-air views. The atmosphere leans relaxed and sociable, with staff regularly cited for their warmth and personality. Pricing sits on the higher end compared to some competitors, though most visitors consider the environment and product quality worth the premium. Good to know: The dispensary opens daily at 11:00 AM and stays open until 12:30 AM, making it a flexible stop whether you are passing through mid-afternoon or winding down late in the evening. Its Old Town location puts it within easy reach of restaurants, night markets, and temples, so it fits naturally into a broader evening itinerary. Visitors who prefer cooler, quieter hours may find the upstairs lounge particularly comfortable during the heat of the afternoon. Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
