PARI-
Tucked along Samlarn Road in the heart of Chiang Mai's Old City, this Michelin-recognised restaurant has built a loyal following since opening, drawing diners to its intimate evening setting in the culturally rich Phra Sing district. The kitchen works with carefully sourced ingredients, with visitors highlighting standout dishes such as the tomato with nan salt — praised for its exceptional sweetness — alongside a rotating selection of smaller plates suited to lighter appetites. The experience leans toward considered, technique-driven cooking, and the restaurant draws enough demand that reservations are strongly recommended. The venue operates exclusively in the evenings, creating an atmosphere suited to unhurried dining after a day of exploring the Old City's temples and markets. That said, prospective diners should note that experiences here have occasionally been mixed — some visitors have found the service lacking in warmth, and a few dishes have drawn criticism for overpowering flavours, particularly around heavier toppings that can mask the core ingredients. Good to know: A deposit of 300 THB per person is required to secure a reservation, and tables fill quickly, so booking well in advance is advisable. The restaurant opens at 6 PM every night of the week and closes at 11 PM, giving diners a reasonable window to plan around sightseeing. Those with strong opinions about specific ingredients or preparation methods may want to review the menu carefully before booking, as the kitchen's approach is distinct and not universally to every palate.

Visitor Reviews
I came here right after dinner, so I was already pretty full. We kept it light and ordered a few smaller dishes, and they were surprisingly well done. The tomato with nan salt was incredibly sweet, almost like fruit. The Yunnan ham with melon was simple but perfectly balanced. The ceviche was also very good. The fish is dry aged, which I like. It gives the texture a softer, slightly chewy feel. But my favorite was the perilla seed ice cream. Easily the best part of the meal, hands down.
I've been to Pari from the start until it was hard to book a table but i still follow the procedure like other customer put 300฿ deposit/person. I've book on the 8th 21:00 but i reach before at 20:45 and i've ask them can i order food first so i don't have to wait so long for my food especially the chicken which always come last. But they say please wait but it was until 21:00 they brought me to my table and i've ordered like 10 items and chicken x 2. As i've expected, the chicken came last and we couldn't eat anymore. So why didn't the chef or owner brief the staff to inform the customer which dishes need to inform the customer that need to wait 30 mins and beyond. That is the only issue here, don't get me wrong the food was good just that it way too long to wait for some items.
Rewriting my review since I have had a reservation for dinner. The food was good but the squid topping was too much it blocked the taste of the actual dish. I had about 3 different dishes with squid topping (tofu, garlic rice, yakisoba) all of them near bland because of the topping. I had to brush it to the side to taste the dish. I ordered two different beef dishes and both were good but nothing spectacular that made you go “wow”. The sweet potato was good and more than reasonable for its price. Now for lunch, the beef bowl and pork neck was spectacular! The taste! The aroma! How it came nice, hot and steamy! It was definitely what I expected. The service is good and the atmosphere as well.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
