Bistro Terrace
Tucked along Samlarn Road in central Chiang Mai, this well-loved bistro draws consistent praise for its welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and satisfying food at reasonable prices — particularly notable given its location in a busy tourist area. The terrace setting creates a calm, airy environment that makes it an appealing spot to slow down and settle in, whether for a morning coffee or a leisurely lunch. The menu leans into variety, with visitor reviews highlighting generous portion sizes and an adventurous skewer selection that includes options like jellyfish, chicken feet, and octopus alongside more familiar choices. Food arrives quickly without sacrificing quality, and the staff are frequently noted for being warm, chatty, and attentive. For a cafe-bistro in a well-trafficked part of the city, the pricing is considered fair. Bistro Terrace is open seven days a week from 8:30am to 5:00pm, covering breakfast, brunch, and lunch but no dinner service. Those planning a visit should factor in the early closing time and aim to arrive before mid-afternoon to avoid any last-minute rush. The consistent daily hours make it straightforward to include in a Chiang Mai itinerary without needing to check for day-specific closures.

Very nice little cafe and restaurant. We came here for a quick lunch and it was ideal. Really delicious food, served quickly and at a decent price. Very nice sitting on the terrace too. Also friendly service.
Lovely place for a nice coffee and quick meal, prices not too high even tho it's in a very touristy area, lovely staff and the atmosphere is just so calm and nice, definitely coming back here ~

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
