NORI Sky Terrace
Tucked above the lively lanes of the Nimmana Haeminda Road area, this small family-run Japanese rooftop restaurant has earned a quiet reputation as a hidden gem among those who stumble across it. Despite its central Nimman location, it draws a relaxed, unhurried crowd — a contrast to the busier street-level venues nearby. The combination of fresh sushi rolls, gyoza, and rooftop elevation makes it a distinctive find in a neighbourhood better known for cafes and cocktail bars. Visitors can expect an intimate setting with limited tables, meaning the space fills quickly despite its generally quiet atmosphere. The food leans Japanese, with sushi rolls and gyoza drawing particular praise from regulars. Views take in the rooftops and narrow alleys of the Nimman area alongside Doi Suthep mountain in the distance — not a sweeping city panorama, but a charming and genuinely pleasant outlook, especially around sunset. Pricing has drawn mixed notes, with some finding portions on the smaller side relative to cost, though the overall value is considered reasonable for the setting. The restaurant opens daily at 17:45 and stays open until midnight, making it well-suited for an early evening dinner or a relaxed late-night drink. Arriving close to opening time on weekends is a practical move, as the limited number of tables means it can reach capacity quickly. The Facebook page, listed under NakaraOkujou, is the best place to check for current menu details or any changes before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
The view is good, not spectacular. You can see the view of small alleys of Nimman area (nothing much to see) and Suthep Mountain. The restaurant itself is very lovely with some tables (maximum size of table is for 6 people). I think you should call to reserve to make sure you will get the table. We went there when the pollution in Chiang Mai is not good, so there was a table for us. The food is really good although the price is a little bit higher than other Japanese restaurant, but it's really good and they use quite high quality meat.
I don’t know why this place is always quiet when I come here. The family working here is so cute and their sushi rolls are so goooood. Gyoza’s too. Love the view and this little hidden gem. Sorry we started munching before I took the photos hehe
Hidden away gem in the heart of Nimman! The cutest rooftop and seems to be family run, has delicious fresh food, a city view and all at such a good price! Would recommend :))

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
